The farm-to-table movement is here to stay – much to my eternal joy – which makes this rehearsal dinner shoot all that much better. Planned by Hitched By Heather and with bright, wild blooms by Alicia Jayne Florals, these pics are the perfect way for us all to embrace these final days of summer with good food and good friends, including the four-legged kind!
From Alicia Jayne Florals… We all know how big the “Farm to Table” movement has become and how important it is know where our food is coming from. Well, we wanted to be right in the middle of the action and literally brought the table to the farm for this inspiration rehearsal dinner shoot. Our idea was to show couples a casual and fun option for their rehearsal dinner. If the ceremony and wedding are a more formal event then why not do something casual with a farm to table dinner ON the farm!
We changed things up by using a serpentine style table with a lyme check print tablecloth courtesy of La Tavola Linens. The guests dined on all locally sourced foods served family style with pie tins for their plates. Dessert featured mini servings of cobbler in individual size cast iron skillets. Guests also received a stack of recipe cards for each of the menu items. Menus were printed on flour sack towels. After dinner guests pulled up a hay bale and watched family videos of the bride and groom and enjoyed a popcorn snack.
The floral designs and table decor featured seasonal flowers and local produce. We kept the table design casual using wooden bread bowls as vessels for the flowers and wooden pillar candle holders. The stationery was full of watercolor fruits and vegetables complementing the foods being used in the various recipes throughout the meal. Our table was situated in between two chicken coops which was perfect for stringing cafe lights above the dining area. Our family of models were real troopers allowing the farm animals to wander freely throughout the dinner. Chickens, guinea fowl and ducks roamed the grounds making the experience even more authentic.
