From Gert Huygaerts Photography...The beautiful anniversary of Chad and Thao in the Provence lavender fields. The story behind this report by Thao:

From The Bride...Chad and I started dating in our first year of college. After graduation, I moved to Boston to pursue my master’s degree while he raced motorcross professionally and started up a business. We maintained the long distance relationship for five years before he proposed and I moved back to Vermont to start our lives together.

MARRIAGE MATTERS ~ This October, we will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary.

A few years ago I ran across a picture on Instagram of a beautiful lavender field that seemed to go on forever and fell in love with the idea of going there. I did a little research and learned that it was in the Provence region of France. I heard wonderful things about Provence but it had not been on my list of places to visit until I saw that picture. Since we graduated from college we have made it a point to go away together once a year, just the two of us to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company. For the past 16 years, we have taken our vacations in the fall to avoid the crowds, to celebrate our anniversary and the timing fit well into our work schedules. The lavender season runs from mid-June to late July so this would be our first summer vacation together. It is a challenge for him to take time off in the summer but he saw how much it meant to me and gave me the green light to begin planning. The thoughts of frolicking through lavender fields made the cold winter months in Vermont bearable and got me through busy season.

We had an incredible trip! We visited quaint Provencal towns, wandered through farmer markets, took midnights strolls, and ate way too many gelatos and macarons. We walked through sunflower fields, olive groves, and watch sunsets from the lavender fields. The lavender smelled as wonderful as it looked and there’s nothing quite like the humming of the buzzing bees.

MARRIAGE MATTERS ~ The best part of the trip was just spending time together without the distraction of work. I am truly thankful that our paths crossed in that business class so many years ago. He has been my best friend for more than half my life and my family loves him as much as I do.

....... As Phoebe from Friends would say, "He’s my lobster."
