Elegant Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate Shoot

There are inspiration shoots, and then there are inspiration shoots designed by Nancy of So Happi Together. The latter being my absolute fave. She’s got design instincts like you wouldn’t believe, and when she’s teamed up with Sally PineraCasa De PerrinFound Vintage RentalsLa Tavola and so many industry talents, the result is inspirational imagery we’re BEYOND grateful to house in The Vault.

Words by Nancy from So Happi TogetherThe inspiration for our shoot comes from the couples that we actually work with – stylish, fun-loving, working professionals who want to throw a fabulous party to celebrate their union. They keep their guest count limited to the people who know and love them as individuals and as a couple. For this reason, they want to be sure to spoil each of their guests and keep the good food, good drinks and good times rolling well into the night and early morning. A private estate provides the perfect space for such a soiree, especially when it comes with a stunning view of the Pacific.

While our couple has a definite sense of style and taste, they hire a planner (Nancy Park of So Happi Together) to creatively design and seamlessly execute the styling and coordination of their special day. Being busy professionals, they trust their vendors to produce a day that will reflect their personalities and aesthetic. They also want to enjoy a day (or even a week!) of not feeling so busy. They want their wedding day to be an escape from the hustle and bustle of the everyday, for themselves and all of their guests. With this in mind, a color palette is chosen with soft soothing lavenders, cool refreshing marble grays, and muted dusty blues that reflect the calming ocean views.

Every detail of the wedding is thoughtfully designed to provide guests with the feeling of luxurious comfort and escape. And of course, they have hired a film photographer to perfectly capture the essence and moments of the day. They appreciate the art and timeless beauty of film and trust Sally Pinera Photography with their vision.

The ceremony takes place on a helipad at The Malibu Rocky Oaks Estates and Vineyards, which provides an unobstructed view of the famous Malibu canyons. A “field” of lavender, provided by floral designer Heavenly Blooms, lines the edge of the helipad and creates a serene and natural backdrop for their wedding vows. Cross-back vineyard chairs (provided by Town and Country Rentals) are a nod to the vineyard on property and all of the other Malibu vineyards that the ceremony site overlooks. Even the pads on these chairs are custom dusty blue linens from La Tavola Linen. In contrast, the cocktail reception has clear views of the ocean and is sprinkled with inviting lounges provided by Found Vintage Rentals. Guests mingle poolside and receive their escort cards, which are boxed in beautiful glass and brass jewelry boxes. Each hand calligraphy name card is adorned with fresh blooms and acts as a work of art for guests to take home. They incorporate the crest that the couple had designed for their invitation suite by designer and calligrapher, Red Letter Day. This alludes to the fact that each individual guest is really considered family to our happy

couple.

The marble-top dining table, also provided by Found Vintage Rentals, is the perfect foundation for the gorgeous floral arrangements provided by Heavenly Blooms and vintage place settings by Casa de Perrin. The arrangements are grounded by a hand-dyed silk runner and surrounded by hand-made French gray taper candles in vintage brass holders and assorted specialty votives provided by Modest Peach.

Each place setting is adorned with a mini bouquet of the bride’s favorite flowers, tied together with hand-dyed silk ribbon, which naturally cascades across the vintage china. All paper goods incorporate some sort of hand calligraphy by Red Letter Day. The menus and main invitation have silver-foiled bevel edges. And a collection of color-coordinated, vintage stamps are used for mailing. The cake and desserts mimic the serene marble details of the tablescape and has some of their favorite desserts like French macarons and delicate mini meringues dusted with gold foil.

The bride herself has her wardrobe beautifully styled by Wilmarose Orlanes. Her Samuelle Couture gown has layers of romantic tulle that match the overall décor and color scheme. Her accessories are from Styled by Two’s Company, with shoes by Jimmy Choo and bridal clutch by Deux Lux. Hair and Makeup provided by Regina and Jazmine, respectively, for the Halycon Agency. The groom’s attire is provided by The Black Tux.

Of course, the couple has to end their evening in style, so they have a vintage Rolls Royce (provided by Classy Chassis) decorated with matching floral garlands to act as their getaway car. A perfect end to a perfect celebration.
