From Josh Gruetzmacher Photography… Marianne and Randy were married at her parent’s home in Sonoma on a beautiful summer day. They loved the idea of having the wedding at the family home as a way of adding memories to the long list of fond memories that they’ve had there over the years. They wanted the wedding to have an approachable elegance, so they brought in Shannon Leahy Events to help bring their vision to life. They utilized the existing pathways through the oak trees as a way for the guests to get to the ceremony site next to the coi pond. Bright, juicy florals by Flowerwild adorned the ceremony aisle and floral arch. The adjacent orchard and garden were perfect for the cocktail hour. Finally dinner was served in the tent build-out followed by dessert and dancing. Shannon Leahy and her team wanted to keep everything natural flowing seamlessly from the landscape through the various design elements and and the tent build out. They used lots of wood tones, sisal carpets, raw linen and copper accents to mimic textures already found on the property. This neutral backdrop allowed the bright fuchsia, purple and pink florals to be a fun pop of color and to define the color palate. The groom has always been interested in graphic deign and he designed the invitation and worked with Yonder design to print and produce the other paper goods for the day. They had bottles of wine grown on the property for the for the guests to take home as a favors at the end of the night.

Another special touch that they were able to incorporate into their day was the African tradition, tasting of the flavors flavors during the ceremony. The four flavors are vinegar, cayenne pepper, lemon, and honey, and they are used to signify the bitter, the spice, the sour and the sweetness a couple should experience during their lifetime of marriage.
