This is what happens when romance, tradition and whimsy meet up at a picturesque seaside setting: a whole lot of awesomeness. Think stunning blooms from Flowers by Alison, beautiful details styled by Both Coasts Style (the MOB and SOB!) and a bride who really knows how to rock a Monique Lhuillier. See it all captured by Alyssa Maloof right here, then head to The Vault for even more seaside lovely.
From the Bride… My sister’s wedding set an ideal for how I wanted my own wedding to look and feel. Little did I know, my future husband was also in attendance, with that very same thought.
Almost four years later exactly, Sean and I exchanged vows in the same small church where my sister and parents were married. Much of our wedding was drawn from the occasion where we met, though we insisted on personalizing our day. My mom and sister of Both Coasts Style fulfilled the request perfectly, managing to still incorporate the same trappings of life, love, and family.
Boats ferried our guests across the bay of my hometown to a waterfront reception. Everyone was greeted with custom cocktails in vintage coke bottles, bottled by my brothers. My mom and sister gathered the perfect decor to complement the bay side venue: old bait and tackle shop signs, a fire pit surrounded by antique Adirondacks, and vintage couches set up in vignettes across the property. They thought of every detail — even making oyster shell garland to hang on the seafood shack, where we served oysters and clams.
We added our own flair by hiring a local celebrity and Rod Stewart impersonator, Sir Rod Stewart. He confused a few wedding guests, until he ignited the dance floor alongside fireworks, singing Maggie Mae. I have never seen smiles and laughter brought about so instantaneously.
Every inch of our wedding felt personal and represented so much of who we are as a couple. Everything from the food, to the flowers, to the service was contributed by our closest family and friends. This is undoubtedly why everyone felt a little bit of magic on our wedding day.
