Woohoo you’re engaged! As you dive into an increasing amount of research, inspiration, timelines and more, you realize, having an extra set of hands may be exactly what you’re looking for. But what sort of planner is best for your needs, your budget, your wishes? What are the offerings among different planners and coordinators? Beth Bernstein of Sine Qua Non Special Events is here to set the record straight and help all our bride-to-be’s figure out the best assistant for their big day dreams!
From Beth Bernstein, Owner and Event Director of Sine Qua Non Special Events… As a member of the wedding industry, I’m constantly reminded of misunderstandings and misconceptions between the different types of wedding planning offerings by various planners and coordinators. Most potential clients are not aware of the vast, detailed differences between Day Of Coordination and Month Of Coordination, or even Full Service versus Partial. I’m excited to share this information with all of you beautiful Brides and Grooms-to-be so you can make the best decision for you!
A common perception among engaged couples that don’t have a full-service wedding planner is that they only need help the day of the wedding, thus calling it “Day of Coordination.” What they don’t realize is that in order for their day to run smoothly, it is critical that their coordinator become involved at least a month before their wedding! This allows the coordinator to become familiar with all of their vendors, help establish a cohesive timeline, attend the final walk through, run the wedding rehearsal, staff appropriately for the day of the wedding, and numerous other details that would make any bride or groom’s heads spin! Without this background knowledge, the coordinator would be at a true disadvantage on the day of the wedding.
For many couples who just want that “last-minute assistance,” a Month Of Coordinator is truly their best fit. Other couples may be fine with a Day Of Coordinator, as long as they are aware of what that person is and is not responsible for. Additionally, some couples may think that they only need a Month Of Coordinator, but in reality, a Full or Partial Service planner would be better suited to handle what they need.
It’s all about knowing the differences in your planner’s offerings and what you truly need as a couple so you can decide what is best for you!
