From The Bride... We met in New York in 2009 and quickly became close friends. Being in our early/mid 30's in Big Apple, we had lots of fun, mostly with our large group of mutual friends in the city. But we also spent more time alone as our friendship grew stronger and we eventually got to know each other at a deeper level.

We took a trip to Seattle over the Labor Day weekend in 2014. We were both very much looking forward to Seattle; it was the first time visiting the great northwest for me and Seattle is a special place where Min's mom last lived before passing away in 2005. Leading up to the weekend, a few of our friends were predicting that Min would propose in Seattle and, even though I didn't want to get my hopes up, I could not help but think about the possibility. I asked peculiar questions as soon as we arrived ("Did you bring anything really valuable?") and even tried to secretly search his bag. When Min did not panic, I was disappointed and did not think this was the weekend my friends were predicting.

On the second day of the trip, we drove to two places where Min's mom's ashes were scattered. First was at the top of a beautiful hill near Whidbey Island and the second was at Meadowdale Beach Park in Mukilteo WA, which has an awesome hiking trail that leads to a beach by the Puget Sound. It was at the latter, when we were taking a rest on the beach, Min spoke of his mom, but also how special I had become in his life. Then he knelt down, to my shock, and proposed! I screamed several times and said yes. I was so shocked, Min's words at the time are still a bit fuzzy in my head.

Our engagement story is very special for us in so many ways. Seattle will always be special to us and we are planning to visit every year from now on.

We both love nature from growing up in California, so we loved the idea of a rustic chic wedding. It was important to us that our wedding represents us and we our goal was to create a fun and relaxing experience for our guests. Our color scheme was encompassed a range of spring neutrals; shades of white/ivory, blush pink, pale sky gray, champagne gold, peach, and grounded them with accents of inky midnight navy. We wanted our wedding to feel like the first day of spring, especially for our East Coast guests, a nice break from their relentless winter.

Calamigos Ranch is a really beautiful venue with scenic greenery, waterfalls, and fairy lights. It has a casual vibe to it that I love and even the drive to the Malibu Canyons via PCH is breathtaking. It doesn’t get old even for a LA native like me.

The ceremony was really special which our friend, John, led. He is an older brother figure to me, so it really meant a lot having him officiate our ceremony.

Our reception was fun!!! Everyone commented on how happy and relaxed we looked and we truly felt that way the whole night. Looking out into the room and seeing all our awesome family and friends celebrating with us, it felt so warm, we were so touched and that moment was worth all the work of wedding planning.
