Manhattan Garden Party-Inspired Wedding
Overflowing with mimosas and merriment, this brunching pair planned the ultimate daytime ceremony. Complete with cocktails and a church ceremony, it's a take on tradition that proves to be truly romantic. From the beautiful Bride... Philip and I met when we both lived in Atlanta, but since then, we have lived in Chicago together and we also rent a place in NYC's West Village. We both travel a ton for work and for pleasure, s o when we sat down to plan our wedding, we started with what we didn't want, and went from there.
We knew we didn't want to spend tons of money on things that didn't matter to us, and we knew the money we had would go towards the things that did. We didn't want a traditional dinner reception, and we wanted the whole day to be fun.
One of our favorite ways to pass the time is a lazy, hazy, NYC brunch day, and that's what we ended up deciding on. We got married at noon, kicked off cocktails at 1:30, and danced the day and night away. The party continued well into the night! There were some pieces of our wedding that we kept traditional because tradition means a lot to us. We got married in the Catholic Church, we ended up having a bridal party (though I only picked a soft neutral scheme, not the dress), and we had the reception (even if it was a brunch). It was perfect!
