From The Bride… We knew when we planned an April wedding the chance of rain was high. We couldn’t believe it when we ended up with full sun and 80 degrees. It truly was the perfect start to an incredible day! We had a lovely and intimate outdoor ceremony. From there, walking into the reception and seeing all of our favorite people to dancing the night away to an amazing band and enjoying s’mores by the fire pit with our families it truly was the best day ever.
I am not so much of a DIY-er myself, but luckily websites like Etsy exist to help people like me achieve the “DIY” look without all the work! My favorite “DIY” elements would have to be the signs I found by “Remember November” on Etsy- they worked with me to design the perfect signs to match our color scheme. They added the perfect details to tie everything together! I found easels online and printed the signs on 20 x 30 thick poster board for my wedding program as guests entered the ceremony area and also a welcome sign as guests made their way into the cocktail area. I was so happy with how they turned out! We even got matching signs for the card/gift table and guest book as well as signs to notify guests of our wedding hashtag. I also love the way our table numbers and cake topper from “Better Off Wed” on Etsy turned out! They were the perfect pop of glitter and gold!
My favorite moment was walking into the reception hand in hand with my new husband and seeing all of our friends and family’s smiling faces! It was so nice to look around and see all of the planning and details we had been trying to envision for the last few months – the band, flowers, layout all came together better than I could have imagined!
I was so lucky to find the best vendors! My florist, Floriography Designs, truly brought my vision to life. I wanted simple, soft arrangements in pale peaches, pinks and ivory for the centerpieces and bouquets, but I didn’t want to spend too much. She helped me pick the seasonal flowers that would be the most cost-effective while still giving the look I wanted. We ended up picking peach Juliet roses as the main flowers in the bouquets accented by white anemones with dark centers and I just loved the way they turned out!
My gown was an Essence of Australia tulle trumpet style gown, criss-crossed through the bodice with a sweetheart neckline. The color was a mix of ivory and champagne, which I loved! The girls and I added champagne ribbons to our bouquets which was an extra pop of color that tied it all together. Originally I thought I wanted something more traditional, but they just weren’t doing anything for me, in the end tulle added to the soft romantic look I was going for, and the added bonus of being an extremely light weight material which in the end worked out great since we got a super hot day for April! I added a champagne belt to the dress and big dangly earrings to add some sparkle.
I found the best hair and makeup artists to tie the look together with a soft side swept wavy hair style that kept in place the entire night and super natural makeup by Beauty on Location NJ.
My bridesmaids wore jade floor length dresses from J.Crew and my Maid of Honor wore a gold sequin floor length Badgley Mischka dress, which added a little more gold pop to the jade and soft peaches and pinks in the floral arrangements.
In lieu of favors we decided we would go against tradition and make a donation to two organizations that are important to us. Operation Smile, which Frank does a lot of work with as an employee of Johnson & Johnson and St. Matthews House in Naples, Florida, an organization which helps the homeless and less fortunate get back on their feet.
As for the cake we wanted to keep it pretty simple, we chose a vanilla cake with fresh strawberry and Bavarian cream filling with plain icing and pretty simple accents. I asked my florist to decorate the cake with some flowers that matched the centerpieces and I loved the way she chose to decorate it.
We chose an amazing photographer, Images by Berit, that helped us capture the day and all of the details. She totally got the vision that we were trying to pull together over the months and I love being able to look back on the pictures from the day and seeing it come to life all over again!
My advice to brides-to-be? Don’t stress about the little things! Though it’s easier said than done! Things will go wrong but the best part is you will hopefully be having too much fun to notice or care when the time comes! I remember agonizing over the smallest details, luckily my sister and bridesmaids were there to remind me that in the end what color the napkins were and whether or not I had envelope liners meant nothing in the grand scheme of things!
