Any celebration that features DIY details is sure to win our hearts, but add in a sentimental touch? Well, we’re all about that. From the ceremonial doorway created by the father of the Bride, to the punny doggy bag favors, every moment is handmade and heartfelt. From Bartlett Pair Photography… Tara and Matt, where do I start!? They love Disney, marathons, rescuing dogs and they made it all official at the Anthony Wayne House. As you’re about to see, they poured their hearts into every last detail of the wedding. We always tell our brides that the more personal touches you put into your day, the better. For example, when the father of the bride hand crafts a rustic chic doorway that opens up to the ceremony space, you’re off to a good start (the venue is even hoping to make it a permanent fixture to the space!). As the ceremony music commenced, Matt waited for Tara under a flower adorned pergola at the edge of the woods, where the sun leaked through the trees as we witnessed one of the most romantic ceremonies to date. It was a special moment, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up once or twice as I glanced over at my own husband (that is until he body checked me to get a shot! haha just kidding Lincoln).
This was our first Anthony Wayne House wedding, but let me tell you that we will be back as often as possible. I mean this place blew us away! Amidst 16 acres of gorgeous greenery is the Georgian-style estate of Revolutionary War hero, General Anthony Wayne. The venue has seriously stepped up their game this year by upgrading every last aspect of the space, including a brand new tented pavilion filled with chic touches like floating/glowing mason jars. Oh and let’s not forget the to-die-for farm tables that were assembled from recycled barn wood. Keeping with the local theme, the exclusive caterer, Jeffrey Miller Catering, sources ingredients from local farms (and let me tell you, we’ve been talking about the food ever since!). We can honestly say that an Anthony Wayne House wedding is a serious contender for best outdoor garden themed wedding in the Philadelphia area.
One of our favorite parts of the night was the toasts. Let me preface by saying we’ve seen hundreds of toasts, and know how difficult it can be to entertain 100+ guests while simultaneously conveying a touching message. Jon and Lauren (Tara’s sister) knocked it out of the park, especially when Jon wove together hashtag themed advice for the groom (who works with the Silicon Valley crowd), including the importance of #yesdear. (Now if only Lincoln could learn the same!)
At the very end of the day, Lincoln and I almost always try to pull off a creative night portrait. Tara and Matt had mentioned that they wanted a picture with the string lights around the fire pit, so we dreamed up what would be a pretty technically challenging shot. We had to relocate some guests and only had about 2 minutes to pull it off, but what we captured is one of our favorite portraits to date.
