From the Bride…The first Saturday in June proved to be the perfect timing for the formal peony garden to be in full bloom at Hildene, in Manchester Village, Vermont. Prior to stopping-and-smelling the roses, the Bride, Heather, the Groom, Lukas, their Bridal Party and guests, all prepped for the day at the historic Equinox Resort & Spa in the heart of Manchester Village; across the street stands the formidable First Congregational Church where they would soon wed. After a morning sprinkle, the skies opened up to the brightest blue to shine on the couple this day. Following the church ceremony where the couple laughed and loved (and the Bride’s 87 year old grandfather proudly walked her down the aisle), the 200 guests started arriving at Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln’s summer home, and a truly remarkable venue that captures the beauty of Vermont in the Spring. The green mountains were illuminated that afternoon as the guests toured the home, roamed the gardens, and sipped on some speciality, craft cocktails. Dinner and dancing followed in the tent where there wasn’t an empty spot on the dance floor the entire evening, thanks to the phenomenal band, or a full-plate left on a table, thanks to the fabulous caterer. Speaking of tables, each was adorned with more of the beautiful calligraphy that matched the ceremony programs, invitation suite and save the dates, and even more peonies to brighten your day (vases were painted by the groom because his bride couldn’t get enough rose gold!). While the guests eventually returned home to New York and Michigan, for the most part, it wasn’t before they lit the way for the happy couple’s exit with heart-shaped sparklers, capping off the perfect day (and night).
