Romantic Art Deco-Inspired Nashville Wedding

I don’t love themed weddings, but this Bride and Groom’s Art Deco-inspired Nashville fête is so elegant and understated, that I may have to change my stance. With touches like beaded bridesmaids’ dresses and décor to highlight the space’s neoclassical design, this wedding is the perfect modern take on 1920’s glamour. And Cassidy Carson‘s photos? Well, they’re perfection, too—see them here.

From The Bride… Nashville is a very special place to us; we met in Nashville, and my husband attended Vanderbilt University. Therefore Nashville was the only choice for us to tie the knot. When we started to look for wedding venues, we both knew that we wanted a classic wedding venue that combined southern culture and vintage charm. From the moment we entered the Schermerhorm Symphony Center in downtown Nashville, we immediately fell in love with the neoclassic design and natural lighting. The venue provided a vintage template, with a stunning courtyard, meticulous crown molding, and grand interior columns. The unique light fixtures and marble flooring were enhanced with beautiful organic floral arrangements.

When it came time to purchase a dress, I had trouble deciding what type of dress I wanted. I just couldn’t imagine myself in a traditional wedding dress. After looking through lots of wedding magazines and blogs, I ended with a custom design from St. Isabel based in Austin, TX. I quickly decided that I would feel most comfortable in a deep & dramatic neckline, and then we built onto the dress from there. I ended up wearing a long sleeved, white laced gown, with beautiful button details.

Once we selected the venue we wanted to make sure our wedding day was elegantly captured. We researched so many photographers and immediately fell in love with film photographer, Cassidy Carson. We couldn’t be happier with the way our pictures turned out. Every picture captures the joy of our wedding with a romantic, rich texture and soft finish.

On the day of our wedding, we started our morning with a quick run; we couldn’t resist telling fellow joggers that we were getting married. Everyone responded with positive comments and stories about their wedding day. Once we finished running we were off to the venue. Another great wedding decision was selecting Jamie Brickell from 12th table design for wedding coordination and Amanda Gros for styling and makeup. Jamie was spot-on with every wedding detail; she made all my planning efforts come to reality. Amanda Gros was also brilliant; she understood that I wanted a vintage, yet natural look. It was very important to me that my makeup wasn’t too heavy. We anticipated being nervous on the wedding day, but were surprisingly relaxed.

Even though we wanted a traditional venue, we wanted to reduce the traditional wedding activities. We excluded the garter belt / bouquet toss and cutting the cake; however we kept our first dance and the dances with our parents. One of my favorite wedding memories was dancing with my father to Moon River, the same song that my grandparents danced to at their wedding. We also wanted our guests to accurately experience Nashville, aka The Music City; we selected an incredible band that kept us dancing to Motown hits. My husband’s primary goal for the wedding was to have an awesome party, and sure enough, everyone had such a good time that it ended with all the male guests placing their ties around their heads. It was a night to remember! We feel so fortunate to have experienced our dream wedding, surrounded by the people we love.
