SMP Blogger Bride Rose + Flower Crown DIY

Hi Brides! Its Ali from A Dash Of Details here again with a little Flower Crown DIY. In the midst of all the wedding planning craziness, it’s always nice to take some time out and spend it with your girlfriends. The week leading up to the wedding can be stressful, so we took a few hours, drank a little rosé, and learned how to make flower crowns from our resident expert, Mandi from Butterfly Petals .

An assortment of flowers and greenery

Flower Shears

Twigs or Floral Wire

Flower Glue

Step 1 | Bring out the wine, set the table and add some fun tunes. Mandi brought over a wide selection of beautiful blooms (my personal favorite, the Juliette rose, included). I set the table with a white table cloth from La Tavola Linens and some great modern glasses from Crate and Barrel. Thankfully the clear vases full of flowers were the perfect centerpiece for our little get together.

Step 2 | Mandi showed us how to make the base of the flower crown. Instead of using floral wire,we used twigs. Not only does it give a rustic feel but it is much easier, and takes half the time as using floral wire. Take each end of the twigs and start twisting. Once they are wrapped together, fit to your head and then twist the ends to make a circle. Cut the excess with flower shears and tuck in the ends together.

Step 3 | Pick your color scheme.

Step 4 | Take your first flower and apply a generous amount of glue to the twig base. Let it dry for a moment (perfect time to sip your drink) and then apply your first flower onto the twigs. Tip: Make sure to use your flower shears to cut the flower so there is a flush base. The glue will hold better on a flat surface.

Step 5 |  Add a cluster of flowers, or however you want your design to look. Too add greenery, my favorite is circle eucalyptus, take some flower glue and twist the greenery between the flowers and twigs.

Step 6 | Have fun and be sure to laugh! You can never mess up when it comes to flower crowns.
