Romantic Golden Hour NYC Engagement from KT Merry Photography

Working at SMP, I fall in love on a daily basis—call it an occupational hazard. But, I’m being sincere when I say I’m completely head-over-heels in love with this stunning couple’s breathtaking engagement session from KT Merry Photography. From the bride-to-be’s gorgeous dresses to the couple’s cute pooch and dancing among the Manhattan skyline, every photo from this shoot will make you swoon.

From The Bride…I had recently moved back to Pittsburgh, PA and wanted to reconnect with my old friends. Two friends of mine (brothers) that I grew up with, owned a successful clothing store downtown and I went to go visit them one day. Coincidentally, Jerimiah, who was also a mutual friend of theirs had the same idea. He immediately caught my eye and I “nonchalantly” asked the one brother about him. I later found out that Jerimiah had pulled the other brother aside to do the same. A week later we went on our first date. Jerimiah picked me up and when we pulled up to the restaurant, he pulled out 6 bottles of wine. He had no idea what type I liked so he got every type, which immediately won me over. When we got to the restaurant, Jerimiah told them his name the hostess said ” Nice to finally meet you!” She looked at me and explained he had been calling consistently all week and was persistent about getting us a table. It was an all curated meat restaurant and I was a vegetarian, but seeing how much he put into our first date it meant so much to me. I didn’t have the heart to tell him. As I ate every vegetable side that night and politely picked at the egg on top of the beef tar tar he ordered (hoping he wouldn’t notice), I continued to go on the best date I’ve ever been on. Although it went against all of my rules, I asked him to join my friends and me to a concert the next night, we then went to an event together the night after that and quickly became inseparable. A year and a half later he surprised me with a trip to San Francisco, where he took me on an amazing yacht sailboat on the bay and asked me to marry him. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited in my life, he even had to remind me to give him my left hand! We celebrated all day and then he took me to Van Morrison live that night – something that’s always been on my bucket list. I feel beyond lucky to have him in my life, I still can’t believe I snagged up this dreamy man.

I fell in love with KT’s breathtaking work years ago and when she came to New York to shoot our engagement session I pretty much fell in love with her and Chad too. It’s funny to think we were so nervous to be in front of the camera – they made us feel so comfortable, our session ended up being such a blast! KT captured our little family so perfectly, from Pooch trying to jump in the Bethesda Fountain to us dancing on the Top of the Rock – it was all absolute perfection and when we saw our photos our minds were blown! The way she works with light is unreal, seriously swoon-worthy. We knew we’d be more than ridiculously happy with having her as our photographer but our expectations were beyond exceeded – we are so thrilled have her and Chad as a part of our wedding day this August!
