#BridalBeautyBreakdown: A Pop of Rosy Pink

A traditional English garden wedding calls for a makeup look inspired the timeless elegance of an English rose. And we think this Bride's makeup, executed to perfection by Emily Kent of The Wedding Hair Company, rivals the flower's beauty with the hint of blush and a flirty pink lip. We asked Emily for tips and tricks to recreate the look—find out how below!

GET THE LOOK

BASE

Never start without priming the skin—it ensures your makeup will look fresh and beautiful all day. Shu Uemura Underbase Mousse is a must-have for weddings as it really keeps your foundation on all day and  evens out your skin tone. No matter what your skin type, the Shu Uemura range has a primer for you—BB formula, pore erasing, oil absorbing, brightening...you name it, they have it. Apply with a sponge all over the face, using a light daytime moisturizer beforehand if the skin is a little dry.

FOUNDATION

You need a bit of Chanel in your life, especially on your wedding day! Their Vitalumière Aqua foundation is an absolute hero with its light-as-air texture, yet brilliant coverage. Apply it with a foundation brush or your fingers across the entire face. Next, apply a concealer under the eyes and over any blemishes with a brush or fingertips. Finally, powder. Powder is an absolute must-have for your wedding. It keeps everything in place and eliminates shine throughout the day.

BROWS

A crucial part of the whole look are the brows, which need to be properly preened and shaped. Make sure your eyebrow maintenance is done before the wedding so you have a really clean and defined shape to work with—they make a huge difference and can really transform the face. Use a little hairspray on the brow brush if your brows are unruly to keep them in check all day. Keep the pencil nice and sharp and use a cotton bud to soften then edges of the shape if necessary.

EYES

Eye shadow primer ensures that the efforts that go into getting the look perfect eye, stay in place all day. Using a concealer brush, apply the primer across the lid and use fingers to blend the edges. It feels a little tacky to the touch, which is what allows the eyeshadow to stick. The Smashbox Full Exposure Palette is a great investment whether you're a makeup artist or not—it's a gorgeous collection of flat and sparkling shades that are both day and night friendly. Using a soft blush, apply the desired shade across the whole eyelid, up to the crease and then use a larger, clean brush to blend in the edges. Next up is the eyeliner. Here's a tip: go to an art shop and get your liner brush from there. The brushes sold in makeup artist stores to be too expensive and too big, but the art stores will give you the perfect brush for a clean line every time. Once you have the perfect brush, apply a gel eyeliner along your lash line from the inside corner out to really define your eyes. Finally, a coat of waterproof mascara that will lift and sculpt your lashes into beautiful shape.

CHEEKS

Using a small brush, tickle a bright pop of pink over the apple of the cheeks. At first, it can look alarmingly bright, but a pop of color will really wow in photos.

LIPS

A lip primer is vital for your wedding day, especially with all the talking, eating, drinking, and, of course, lots of kissing! Apply a lip primer, such as MAC Cosmetics' Prep + Prime Lip directly to the lip and rub it in. Then, apply a hint of a soft pink lipstick with a matte finish, such as Clinique's Long-Last Soft Matte Lipstick. Because you're just applying a hint, you don't need to use a lipliner.
