Casual, Rustic Western Australia Farm Wedding
For a bride that crafted so many of her own wedding details, she summed the day up with remarkable clarity..."You are the only person that will notice if the shoes don't match the belts perfectly, or the font on your place cards isn't quite right." That should be a contract that we all sign before we dive into DIY. Because this wedding, photographed by Nicolle Versteeg Photography, is proof that no matter how it comes together, if you choose a beautiful spot, a groom you love and a family to give you hugs, the wedding will indeed be perfect. More here!
From Nicolle Versteeg Photography... Karlee and Dylan's wedding was a little rustic, with vintage and home-made touches set against the charming grounds of the Old Broadwater Farm in Busselton, WA. From a photographers point of view, this wedding was bliss. Karlee and Dylan are cute, easy to photograph and lovely to spend time with. The venue they choose has an assortment of photo options, all in walking distance. They also pretty much stole my heart by having their chocolate border collie Maton attended the wedding!
From the Bride... Dylan and I met through mutual friends in 2008. Dylan proposed in 2014 on my birthday. He surprised me with a weekend away at Bunker Bay.
I knew I wanted a vintage-inspired dress and I love lace. For Dylan, we wanted simple and smart. A crisp white shirt and navy pants, with suspenders for that cute, vintage touch.
We kept the decorations for the ceremony fairly simple. The farm is beautiful enough on it's own. For the decorations we had White paper lanterns hanging in the poplar tree, White Gladiator chairs, White rustic signing table and chairs. Rose petals down the aisle and hanging vases on end chairs.
Home-made dream catchers made from our Nanna's crochet doilies, hanging in the trees. Cute old school bunting (from Bree at OBF) . Long tables for reception. Burlap table runners and small jars and vases of flowers on the tables. Vintage Edison light globes hanging behind the bridal table. White vintage photo frames with black and white photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days. Homemade cake by mum, Red Velvet Layer Cake
We had our dog, Maton walk down the aisle with our junior bridesmaids. We bought him a cute navy polka dot bow tie to match the groom from Etsy. He does everything we do, so we knew he had to be a part of our big day. We also bought each other a gift to open on the morning of our wedding. I got Dylan a dress watch with a leather band and had it engraved. Dylan got me a beautiful pair of diamond studs.
Don't sweat the small stuff. You are the only person that will notice if the shoes don't match the belts perfectly, or the font on your place cards isn't quite right. Breathe, and enjoy every single second of your special day - it goes way too fast. It's not often you will get all of the special people in your life in the same room, and they are there celebrating with you and you can really feel the love. It is true what the say, your wedding day is the best day of your life!
