Intimate + Chic Joshua Tree National Park Wedding
Why am I crushing on this wedding oh so much? To start off, these two said their "I do's" on October 10th... the same day both of their parents married in 1981. And those very special vows were said among the gorgeous Joshua Tree National Park, after primping and prepping at the retro chic Parker Palm Springs. And finally, one fab jumpsuit not to go unnoticed. Betsi Ewing captured it all - right this way!
From the Bride... Being newbies to the LA area, we didn't have any sentimental places in mind for our wedding day. All we knew was the date- 10/10. Both sets of our parents were married on 10/10 in 1981 and they are both still together. Ian's parents were high school sweethearts, while mine met and were married six months later! The wedding date was the most obvious detail of the day. We wanted to find a location that would make us and our wedding guests (all nine of them!) feel special. After visiting the San Jacinto Mountains and the Palm Springs area our decision was made - to spend the wedding weekend at the gorgeous and colorful Le Parker Meridian in Palm Springs and have our intimate afternoon ceremony under the Joshua trees in the park. After driving through Joshua Tree that first time we were totally swept up by the scenery. It was so foreign to us being from Appalachia, it felt like being on the moon! There is something otherworldly about it, but it is also so open, and so unbelievably gorgeous. It suited our style perfectly. Ian and I were determined to focus on the marriage rather than the details of a big wedding, so we pared down and had a beautiful ceremony in a venue that was nearly free with little details and only nine guests. We didn't want to stress about food tastings, venue size, linens, we just wanted to celebrate the joy we felt with those who have supported us through our happy and trying times, nothing else. In the end, the day was perfect and we wouldn't have changed a thing.
