Romantic Winter Wedding at Verandas Beach House
As someone who only recently has lived near a beach, I truly appreciate what a treat it is. So to say your vows overlooking this beauty has always seemed special and this Manhattan Beach bash captured that in full force. Ryan:Lockhart Photography's pics have me in awe, captivated by their gorgeous lighting and the love radiating from these cuties. It's safe to say there are no hump day blues for me today.
From the Bride... Grant and I met at a local bar in Hermosa Beach 3 ½ years ago through mutual friends. We connected immediately and have been together ever since. Two years later Grant proposed at his Grandparent’s beach house in Carpentaria surrounded by both of our families on Christmas Day. We knew soon after our engagement that we wanted a wedding venue close to the ocean in Southern California. Being from Manhattan Beach I wanted someplace that was local and had that laid back, “beachy-chic” vibe, and then we found Verandas Beach House. With its beautiful outdoor garden, complete with hanging lights and a master staircase, as well as an exquisite interior with sweeping ocean views, we knew this was the perfect place for us to say “I do.”
The morning of our wedding I took a walk around downtown Manhattan Beach with a couple of my bridesmaids and soaked in the winter sun with a warm coffee in hand. It had been raining just a few days prior and I was relieved that it was a beautiful and clear day for our wedding. Even though the morning flew by, I savored every moment and before I knew it, it was time for us to get married. As I started to ascend down the large outdoor staircase making my way towards intricately detailed floral aisle, I was trying to focus on not tripping in my Bagley Mischka shoes, when all of a sudden my cathedral length veil caught on one of the beautiful lanterns decorating the stair case and flew off my head, high in the air! Immediately I burst out laughing, as did all of my guests, because it was one of those amazingly special and imperfect moments that make weddings so memorable. It was an icebreaker and the quintessential analogy for the road we were about to embark on – that no matter how meticulously you plan for something, nothing will ever go according to plan and that is what makes life and marriage so extraordinary.
We had a short and intimate ceremony, exchanging personal vows we hand wrote in BHLDN “his” and “her” vow books. After the ceremony the winter sky gave us an incredible sunset and we sipped champagne, danced until we dropped, and laughed harder than we ever have with each other. The team at Verandas delivered nothing short of a perfect wedding day with impeccable service and delicious food. Our reception tables were covered in fresh winter white linens with mercury glass votives and centerpieces with white hydrangeas and peonies. Our vendors made our dream wedding come true and we are beyond grateful to Ryon:Lockhart Photography who did a phenomenal job capturing every decorative detail, heartfelt speech, and crazy dance move.
On December 6th, 2014 I got to marry my best friend and love of my life. The love we felt for each other that day was only enhanced by the love our family and friends wrapped around us. Our wedding was a dream come true and a day we think of often – it was everything we could have hoped for and more.
