Rustic Vermont Barn Wedding

Considering I’m saying my own “I do’s” in Vermont in only a few weeks, this wedding struck a chord with me early on.  But after diving into Elate Photo’s pics, this rustic celebration could have taken place anywhere and I still would have been a fan. My words can’t do this gorgeous gallery justice or even attempt to describe the love between these two cuties; see all this beauty and more right here!

From the Bride… Daniel and I went to Vermont on a ski trip. After a day of skiing, we went on a short hike to a little clearing, where we stopped to rest, right as the sun was setting. I had no idea what was coming, until I saw the box. Right after he proposed, it started snowing! (He’s an amazing planner!)

The theme for the wedding was elegant but rustic with a hint of alpacas. We got married in Vermont (at a beautiful venue that was also an alpaca farm) so we wanted to match the beautiful natural feel of our surroundings with the serenity and ease a wedding day should be. My mom and sister (Pink Door Garden Design) did all of the decorating and everything came out beautifully. It was a gorgeous August day, and the barn was filled with flowers, charming items from my childhood home (paintings and pictures, certain pieces of furniture, mirrors, jewelry, dishes, etc), and gorgeous serving pieces. We had mismatched china on ivory tablecloths, stacks of old books at part of the centerpieces where the table numbers sat, tulle and hanging lights decorated the walls, along with branches and flowers we borrowed from the natural landscape. It came together so beautifully.

Our favorite moment was the first look at each other when I walked down the aisle. What we recall feeling the strongest at that moment was complete peace. And it lasted the entire time. Everyone told us the wedding day would be a blur, and it did go by quickly, but there was such a peace and a happiness about it that we’ll always remember.
