Romantic Spring Wedding at Smog Shoppe

First it was these rose gold shoes that made me gasp. Then I soaked up the gorgeous colors from the florals and decor and started taking notes. But the icing on the incredible (vegan!) cake? This showstopper of a dress. I didn’t even need to look any further, but I’m glad I did because Koman Photography’s pics just kept getting better and better and this Cali celebration is one I won’t soon forget.

From the Bride… Since our third date, Sean and I knew we would marry each other, but I had no idea he was going to pop the question the night we were celebrating a year together at our favorite restaurant in LA, Crossroads Kitchen. We left a wonderful date and as we were headed home he started babbling all this stuff about loving me so much that I started to freak out – I thought he was about to deliver some bad news. But when I asked him he just kept smiling and so I started to suspect. Turns out he had commissioned my sister (and future MOH) to set the scene and make sure the dog didn’t catch fire from all the candles. I walked in the apartment and when I turned around he was on one knee. I’m a pretty private person so I love the fact that he made it just about us, at home. And, our wedding was no different – totally about us.

I wasted no time trying on dresses and about 10 white, traditional gowns in, found the one. A gorgeous multi-colored, drop waist, fit and flare with an asymmetrical horsehair ruffle (GASP). We’re vegan, so we started researching caterers who could accommodate and through that search came across the Smog Shoppe. It was so perfectly us – a little urban, a little earthy. Then we did a food tasting with Jennie Cooks Catering and were sold on bite one of pierogi casserole and tempeh schnitzel – in honor of the groom’s Polish roots. I only met with one florist who totally got my theme – mixing in soft romantic colors and structures to the harder urban venue. The overall color scheme was inspired by my dress – blush, ivory and champagne, accented by the bridesmaids in navy, groomsmen in grey and rose gold metallic accents. Then, by the grace of the universe, Wedding Paper Divas released rose gold metallic foil printing! With my mom and sister’s help, we DIY’d table number holders from wine bottles, seating charts and bar menus. My dad and Sean built custom bag-o boards with our monogram and wedding date for the reception. And our amazing family friend created our “naked” wedding cake (also vegan) and the ivory flower girl dresses. Koman Photography did an amazing job capturing (and coaching, if I’m honest) every amazing moment, without making me feel like hiding from the paparazzi. It turned out exactly how I’d hoped.
