From Gina of Shi Shi EventsElif & Emeka’s wedding was some of the most fun we’ve ever had planning! Both the bride and groom come from loving, warm families and that energy was greatly felt throughout the planning process. The couple lives in Turkey, the bride’s native country, so while we planned with them remotely, much of our time was spent with the groom’s parents planning this fantastic Nigerian wedding celebration. The guest list was sizable and from all over the world, so we needed a reception venue that was not only large but also one that could accommodate all of our overnight international guests. The Renaissance Cleveland Hotel was the perfect fit combining the beauty and accommodations of a historic downtown hotel with their voluminous Grand Ballroom as our reception venue.

Elif & Emeka wanted a vibrant yet clean color palette. Coral was super appealing to them so we added white and silver to round it out and ground the ultra bold elements. We enlisted the floral design expertise of Heather Thomas at HeatherLily who created stunning traditionally glamorous centerpieces for the ballroom. Additionally for the ceremony , she adorned the altar of Church of the Gesu with large urns overflowing with roses & stock. White Flower Cake Shoppe created a stunning buttercream cake with cascading sugar flowers in shades of coral and we chose linens from La Tavola Linen. I especially loved La Tavola’s Chain linen cap in silver against the classic buttercream cake and their Rigel linen provided just the right amount of pattern and texture against the silver sponge chargers and floral tablescape. Guests danced the night away under a canopy of twinkling lights. The evening was made even more festive when Elif & Emeka changed into traditional Nigerian wedding attire & the bride was marched in by her new mother-in-law’s women of honor. It was such a celebration of love & the couple’s new life together as husband & wife!
