Romantic Spring Wedding at Turnip Rose Garden & Promenade

There were many things that excited me when first engaged but I was pleasantly taken by surprise with the amount of joy I found picking out my attire. I loved the gorgeous gowns and this Vera Wang creation reignited that passion. Add in Jenny Yoo’s bridesmaid dresses in the prettiest blue I’ve ever seen and this is a full fashion force. Joel Bedford captured every look and this gallery has me eager for some shopping.

From the Bride… People talk about their wedding day as being utterly surreal and flying by in a blink of an eye; we now understand that this is completely true. We did our best to soak in every lovely fleeting moment, from the time we woke up and spent the morning getting ready and saying our teary-eyed I dos, to tearing up the dance floor at the reception followed by our dramatic exit under a tunnel of sparklers. The day was perfectly imperfect as many of our favorite moments were unplanned, such as a few members of our wedding party delivering hilarious off the cuff speeches and forgoing the traditional garter and bouquet tosses for an impromptu chair dancing session (my husband and I hoisted up and down in the air by our seats) initiated by one of our clever Jewish groomsmen. The day was positively brimming with so much love and excitement between my husband and myself and from all of our friends and family.

We knew we wanted the aesthetics of our wedding to be timeless and romantic while keeping the vibe casual with lots of laughs. The dress was the easiest part as I came across it within a month of our engagement and decided pretty much on the spot that it was the one. However, it was a bit of a challenge to find the right vendors that not only fit our vision but also our budget. We decided to roll up our sleeves and DIY many elements, such as sourcing and arranging the majority of our flowers, planning and setting up all of the decor and deciding to forgo a wedding planner entirely. I would be lying if I said it wasn’t a lot of work. But having our friends and family’s help was paramount to pulling it all together and undeniably the best part of it all.

But it was our amazing vendors that really brought our celebration to life. To highlight just a few, we found our stunning photographers’ portfolio after endless hours of online research while our party igniting DJs are actually musicians from a couple of our favorite bands (Kisses and Classix) who happen to run a wedding DJ business on the side. It probably took the longest to find the right venue but choosing the Turnip Rose was the best decision ever as their food and white glove service were absolutely outstanding. We’re not typically fans of cliches, but with the help of these talented folk our wedding day completely blew all of our expectations out of the water and perfectly validated every cliche wedding quote that ever existed; cue, the best day ever.
