If Grace Kelly and Ralph Lauren were to come together to plan a wedding, this is what it would look like. At least, that was Crosby + Jon‘s inspiration for this Mike Larson Photography Retreat. With help from the amazing talent behind Archive Rentals and Krista Jon, they achieved a design worthy of the Princess of Monaco and the King of American style. See all the beauty here.
From Crosby + Jon… Every so often, you meet someone who inspires your soul, who makes you want to elevate your craft, to become a better, more well rounded creative individual. When Mike Larson & his lovely wife Rachel invited us to their Photography Retreat at Greengate Ranch in San Louis Obispo, California, we knew that we would be pushed to create something new and fresh, a challenge that we took on excitedly, but a little nervously, too.
If we had to choose three words to describe Mike Larson Photography, we would choose: talented, dedicated, inspiring. His challenge to us was to design a multifaceted inspirational wedding photo shoot that his workshop participants would spend the day photographing. This photo shoot was extra meaningful to us because we knew Crosby + Jon’s designs would be photographed by 20 amazing photographers from all over the Untied States, all on a mission to better their craft, and we wanted to inspire these creatives, just as they inspire us.
We gained our inspiration by going back to the classics, wanting to evoke Grace Kelly & Ralph Lauren, a time of sophistication and also simplicity.
For the tablescape, we used a neutral color palate & luxe polished mixed metals & crystal to create an elegant setting. Gardenias, garden roses & peonies created a monochromatic low centerpiece filling the center of our reclaimed wood table. The real showstopper were the hundreds of suspended taper candles, hung from a golden rod that was invisibly held by clear cables, making the candles appear to float above the table.
Where would Ralph Lauren lounge at his daughter’s wedding? For our lounge, we stayed consistent with a neutral color palate, bringing in pops of navy & rich leather to evoke an Americana cigar lounge, fit for a fashion designer & fine cigars.
