Rustic Sea Ranch, California Barn Wedding

When wedding extraordinaire Scott Corridan Design just so happens to be one part of this adorable Groom duo, there's no telling how amazing the Big Day will be. We're talking rustic style perfection on the Northern California coast, and Leah McCormick and Johnny B Films we're on hand to tell the story. Whether it's for the Grooms' horseback entrance or antler + plaid covered tables, you have no choice but to pay a visit to the gallery.

From East River PR...Designer Scott Corridan and husband Russ were married on May 16, 2014 in a bluff top ceremony on the coast of California. The setting at Sea Ranch Lodge spoke to the couple who wanted to incorporate important aspects of their lives in an emotionally honest, strongly masculine, nature inspired celebration shared with friends and family.

The picturesque setting and abundance of deer roaming the property played a significant role in the wedding day décor and being a professional event planner, Scott reached out to all his favorite vendors to take part in executing the details of the design. Rustic centerpieces with candles, antlers and plaid covered the tables and colors of the Corridan family tartan were incorporated into the groom’s attire as a nod to Scott’s family history.

The couple arrived on horseback at the entry gate to the ceremony bluff with their horses Lady and Duchesse. Together with their dog bearers, Daisy and Duke, they walked down the aisle to a gathering of 118 guests and a Southern inspired Baptist choir that sang a processional hymn of ‘Reunion’ from the Color Purple.

A bit of advice that Scott would like to share with readers, "Honor how important your ceremony is… be brave with the idea of standing there emotionally naked and vulnerable in one another’s presence. Be bold in including your family and friends in your ‘truth’ about your relationship - the power that will result will affect everyone, making your union and the connections run ever deeper."

From the Grooms... As we started searching for inspiration to share our story, we were struck by the very fact that, as gay men, we never imagined having the right to legally marry. Following that path, and serendipitously mailing or save the dates on the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s march on Washington, we found parallel after parallel with the civil rights movement from the ‘60’s. Excerpts of Dr. King's speech were read during the ceremony in a way that spoke to our paths as gay men. It had a very profound impact on us, and all our guests.
