From The Bride…One of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process was reading my husband’s version of how we met. Here it goes…

Ariana will probably say that we first met in sophomore year at USC, but my story’s a little different. My then roommate and now best man, Matt, introduced us in our freshmen dorm room. Whether she chose to forget who I was remains unanswered, but to be fair, nothing about my appearance would have gotten girls to approach me. Apparently chubby dudes who not only had a terrible (read: no) sense of style, but also a passion for World of Warcraft isn’t very attractive. After exchanging pleasantries, I put on my headphones and turned back to my laptop. I remember cute girls, so after finishing my game, I asked Matt about Ariana. They went to the same high school and were now in the same chemistry class. I told Matt that I thought she’s cute. Ariana had supposedly only visited us to copy Matt’s chemistry notes. Our love story began with the impression that the other one was completely incompatible. The loser and meanie fell in love.

I know it’s strange that I would want to share Alex’s version of how we met, especially when he called me a “meanie,” but it shows how unlikely we would end up together, yet it was meant to be. Six years later, here we are, husband and wife, with our two furkids, Miso and Nori, living our happily ever after.

As for planning the wedding, I really don’t know what I would’ve done without LanAnh. We were fortunate enough to meet her through a mutual friend, and have her as our wedding planner. From the start, I knew I could trust her to carry out my fairy tale wedding vision. Luckily, Alex is was the most easy going groom and his only concern was the food and booze.

My mom and I both love the look and character of the Langham, and knew it would be the perfect venue for my blush and gold, elegant wedding vision. Alex also liked the idea of having our ceremony in the Japanese Garden with our Japanese furkids, as our ring bearer and flower girl.

The whole wedding day went by so quickly, but I loved every minute of it! My favorite moments included the first look (I was really excited for Alex to see the wedding dress I had been raving over the past year), and exchanging vows. I felt like the ceremony would be more special and personal if we wrote our own. I didn’t think I would cry, but my maids of honor, who had read Alex’s vows in advance, were secretly rooting for me to cry. Sure enough, I teared up.

My advice to couples is to find a planner who really understands your vision. If having a planner is not in your budget, then I would definitely recommend a Day-Of Coordinator. I can’t imagine how stressful it would’ve been without LanAnh’s team making sure the day went by smoothly.
