From Gayle Evans… Fiona from the start had a clear idea of how she envisaged her flowers and when she enquired with myself she had seen my style in previous weddings that had been featured on UK based blogs and bridal magazines. Here enquiry email was so sincere in the desire for me to be her florist even before she had secured her venue that I felt we most definitely would have a creative connection and appreciation…which I was right in thinking! Fiona was an absolute dream to work with and her classic and chic style with a modern twist was intoxicating.
An all white palette although seems to be a safe choice can be an absolute minefield to traverse due to the natural range of tones of white in flowers from green tinges to yellow almost lemon tones. The flowers chosen were integral to keep a clean crisp look that was as close to pure white as I could create but with a warm feel. She trusted me fully and left me to my own devises knowing of my past experience in florist wholesale and having seen my previous work. I’ve used the same supplier for years and in fact I worked for them when I first started my career as a florist. Due to having worked for a wholesaler I have had the great opportunity to meet and use some fabulous British growers of whom I use as much of their stock as I can in my work.
There’s nothing better than using produce that’s grown in your own country. My philosophy on creating my arrangements is to keep things as pure and simple as possible. Nature needs no helping hand to make flowers beautiful they are perfect creations all on their own so I like to embrace any curves, wonky stems and double heads that are supplied. With my bouquets I try to create them ever mindful that I believe that every flower, leaf and stem deserves the opportunity to flaunt itself.
