From Diane Hu PhotographyThe inspiration for our Glittery Gold Venetian styled bridal shoot came from the stunning Venetian Gothic architecture of the Montauk Club, a grand five-story building built in the nineteenth-century located in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood of New York City. We (Jackie Travers, of Busy Bride Planning + Consulting, and Diane Hu, of Diane Hu Photography) wanted to style a wedding that was romantic, elegant and captured the essence of being in a grand palace in Venice, Italy. We wanted to capture the mystique, glamour, seduction and allure of a bride and groom at a masquerade ball on Venice’s Grand Canal. The majestic stained glass windows, carved mahogany woodwork, vintage gold-trimmed portraits, and nineteenth-century architecture of the Montauk Club, provided the perfect background and setting for our vision.

From there, we incorporated vintage decor and delicate details: Katie Fischer Design, along with Write Away For You Calligraphy created the beautiful five-piece invitation suite that featured hand-painted metallic gold accents on a dramatic black card stock. We highlighted the stationery with vintage stamps and miniature flower vases from the antique store Yesterday’s News, a local favorite in Brooklyn. Our florist, Sweet Thorn Flora by Jaime Lee, added a splash of color by designing gorgeous floral arrangements that emulated vintage Dutch Flower paintings. They included rich pink and purple flowers, set in large, vintage gold vases that were perfect for our “fine-art” vision. We also incorporated gold-and-black trimmed dinnerware, a perfect addition to our table setting. Martinka Crystalware & Lifestyle, LLC designed handmade art-deco stemware to complete our table. The highlight of our dessert table is a two-tiered, gold trimmed cake with sugar heirloom roses and daffodils created by Voeux Cake Design, a luxury cake design company.

One of the highlights of the shoot was collaborating with K.C. from 4everstore. K.C provided breathtaking Venetian masquerade masks. The bride wore a handmade white mask with gold detailing along the rim and a delicate white feather. The groom wore a simple, dramatic black and gold mask.

The bride and groom, Chauntee and Morgan, are a real life married couple who recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. We wanted a natural, flawless look for the bride that would emphasize her gorgeous features. Prim and Per’Fect, a New York City based high-end bridal hair and makeup studio, captured the bride’s natural beauty without looking overdone. Prim and Per’Fect styled the bride’s hair with a braided, loose chignon coiffure bun.

We worked with the talented Wanlu from Wanlu Bridal to create a handmade custom wedding gown for our bride. The lace-adorned, strapless dress with beading detail is worn under a gorgeous three-quarter sleeved, lace bolero – a wonderful twist on a classic look. We accessorized the gown with hand embroidered bridal cuffs featuring embroidered lace flowers, beaded leaves and pearls and a chantilly lace bridal cap sewn with a handmade silk flower and a hand curled ostrich feather to finish off the vintage look. The groom is wearing a classic suit from Brooklyn Tailors. The suit is sharply tailored and lean with a flattering fit, and unobtrusive detailing. Chauntee and Morgan’s chemistry combined with an extraordinarily talented team of wedding vendors and professionals helped bring our Venetian love story to life!
