This Fall NYC wedding is a total stunner. With invitations from Tie That Binds, planning from True Event, Reverend Annie Lawrence officiating, and rockin’ tunes from The Remixologists at the reception, there’s no way this fabulous affair wouldn’t be a smashing success! Lucky for us Craig Paulson Photography was there to capture all the love, and share it with us in the gallery here!
From the Bride… When we were searching for a venue in New York and the surrounding area, I felt overwhelmed with the paradox of choice. We went to a number of raw spaces, gardens and estates, but nothing felt right. One evening, when a huge snow storm had blown through all of the tri-state area, we ventured out into the desolate streets of the city to find dinner. We decided upon The Park for its cozy fireplace and delicious pizza. It was a staple of our Chelsea neighborhood. Tonight, for the first time, it was completely empty. Walking through the gorgeous indoor garden room, we knew — this was the place. It had been right under our nose the whole time!
With the help of Sarah from True Event, Ingrid from Tin Can Studios and Frances from The Park, we settled on a floral palette ranging from deep, dusky roses to the palest pinks and everything in between. We even included some orange tones to bring out the Fall colors of our November wedding.
Sarah helped me bring the setting at The Park up a notch, as it’s more of a casual, romantic vibe and we wanted the affair to be black tie optional. We worked with Party Rentals to add gold embellishments and included lighted votive candles within the table arrangements to set the mood for an evening wedding.
I worked with Kim at Craig Paulson photography to set a number of formal and pre-wedding shots at our hotel, The Dream Downtown, and at the venue before the ceremony. She and Caleb caught so many lovely shots – it was hard to pick which to submit!
I worked with Mekala from Tie That Binds stationary to create a custom watercolor map of the Chelsea area as well as a signature watercolor of our two dogs that wouldn’t be able to join the ceremony – it was our special way of incorporating them into our big day! She also created the menus, place cards and ceremony programs to go with the floral palette we’d chosen.
My husband requested a few details including a jazz band during the cocktail hour with a 20s vibe, signature cocktails served before the ceremony (which we also held at The Park) and a raw seafood bar where we had live shuckers preparing fresh oysters and clams. My major request was a pink themed candy bar for guests during dessert and a surprise visit from the Gorilla Grilled Cheese Truck, a NYC staple, at the end of the night. The guests loved leaving the venue and getting some grilled cheese, tomato soup and tater tots before making their next move of the night!
