From the Bride… Most people think the fact that we share a name (Jaime and Jamie) or that we were set up by two famous Wall Street deal makers (Jamie Lee’s father, Jimmy Lee of JP Morgan and Jaime Foster’s friends Tracy and Frank Bisignano formerly of PS 41 and JP Morgan) is what makes our “story” unique but anyone who knows us, knows that it’s the way we clicked from day one that really set us apart.
We met on a blind date at the Jane Street Hotel in New York’s West Village and the date lasted close to 7 hours! After drinks, we continued our fluent and easy conversation over dinner at Del ‘Anima (also a favorite West Village spot) and then moved to Art Bar on 8th Ave for after dinner drinks. From the first conversation we felt totally at ease with each other. We have always been able to easily make each other laugh and fell in love within weeks of our first date.
After a surprise engagement in our apartment in SoHo, we celebrated with our families across the street at Galli Restaurant and flew to Hawaii the next day for a trip that turned out to be our “engagement-moon”!
When it came to planning the wedding we wanted to “marry” our love of the country with our respect for modern design. Having both been raised in historic homes in Fairfield County (Jamie Lee grew up in Darien CT, Jaime Foster Lee is from Wilton CT) we wanted to have a home-town wedding with a modern glamorous feel.
We chose the Lee’s new home on Contentment Island in the Tokeneke section of Darien as a perfect location for the Rehearsal Dinner and we selected the Wilton Riding Club for the wedding reception for its close proximity to the church (Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown CT) and because the location held so many childhood memories for the Foster family.
Once we decided on a rustic barn and horse-ring setting, we knew we needed help designing a look that would juxtapose vintage with modern and would make it feel elegant and beautiful. That’s where Sarah True and the True Event Team came in. We had chosen to use The Schoolhouse Restaurant in Cannondale as the caterer almost immediately (we have known Tim LaBant, the chef and owner since he played little league with the Foster girls in Wilton as a child) and Stamford Tents was a slam-dunk as we knew Ian Rangel and his team would be a perfect fit for us. We also chose the florist without contest as we have worked with Banchet at Banchet Flowers on many family weddings and events in the past and we knew her talent was unparalleled. Lastly we needed to secure the most important player of the Foster-Lee wedding team, the Priest. We were fortunate enough to find out after a funny email exchange or two that a friend of the Lees, Msgr. Robert Ritchie, the Rector of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City had agreed to officiate our wedding mass.
Over the next few months we planned the wedding, picked out china and did all the things couples do leading up to their wedding day-but most importantly Jamie Lee met weekly with Msgr. Ritchie and a month before the wedding he received the sacraments of Communion, Confirmation and Confession. As June 21st approached we were ready for our Big Day!
With the team in place True Event did an amazing job of bringing our vision to life! The clear Navi-Trac tent and the mix of mirrored bars and gold and silver accents on the chairs and tables brought a modern feel to a rustic setting! Banchet created a chandelier of orchids for the barn and each table was decorated with purple and white orchids, hydrangea and more! The final look was stunning.
For us, the most beautiful part of the wedding was how it turned into such a giant love-fest! Everyone was crying and laughing, singing and dancing together. From the Bridesmaid’s Luncheon at the Philip Johnson Glass house in New Canaan, CT to the Rehearsal Dinner on the water in Tokeneke to the wedding reception at the Wilton Riding Club-every moment and detail exceeded our expectations! The weather was gorgeous and looking back on it we wouldn’t change a thing!
