From Trent Bailey Photography… On a rainy day in Manhattan, Christina and David tied the knot downtown and then headed uptown to celebrate with their friends and family in Central Park. Christina was a gorgeous bride and David was such a dapper groom. There is something so magical about Manhattan weddings on a rainy day, and it was an honor to photograph such an incredible couple’s wedding day!
From the beautiful Bride… David and I met in New York City as co-workers and for the past five years have spent our free time together exploring, discovering and falling in love with the city and all it has to offer. There are many lenses through which New York can be seen, but our favorite is black and white – classic, timeless and elegant old-New York. We wanted this theme to resonate through each detail of our wedding.
I have wanted to get married at The Church of Saint Joseph in Greenwich Village since the moment I stepped foot in it with David several years ago. The white wood interior, black and white floors and crystal chandeliers made for a very romantic setting to share with our family and closest friends. In keeping with our theme, we wanted a venue that was clean in décor but classic, and the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park was the perfect fit. To complement the windowed exterior and breathtaking views that the boathouse provided we wanted lots of candlelight and little color. For our invitations, programs and menu cards we kept true to our theme by working with The Printery, the century-old bespoke stationer that produces gorgeous custom stationary. Everything from the wording to the coloring was kept simple and classic.
The day of our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more. We had a full Mass for our ceremony and chose songs that were meaningful to us from throughout our lives. Elizabeth Fillmore customized my dress to perfection. My father and I arrived to the ceremony in a vintage Rolls Royce which David and I then rode away in. My bridesmaids all wore different dresses of the same hue and the groomsmen wore black tuxedos – furs and jackets added a touch of glamor for the girls while warding off the chilly fall night. We took our photos after the ceremony at the New York Public Library, a last minute idea from our photographer Trent Bailey in lieu of the weather, and I cannot imagine having taken them anywhere else.
We kicked off cocktail hour at the boathouse with a signature martini and American Songbook classics via a saxophone and guitar and continued the reception with a wonderful band, capable of doing both the oldies we love and our favorite contemporary hits. David stood out from his groomsmen at the reception where he changed into a classic white dinner jacket.
Dennis of Lenox Hill Florist created a clean and romantic feeling through candelabras, baby’s breath, tea lights and branches draped in small votives. Michelle of Michelle Elaine Weddings helped us in executing our vision flawlessly through her focus on all of the details. And finally, Trent Bailey perfectly captured every incredible moment and detail through his lens, through which we will remember our wedding for a lifetime.
