From Sweet Tea Photography… When I found out I was going to be in Savannah, GA at the end of August for my close friend’s wedding, I wanted to take advantage of my time there and plan a styled shoot! Luckily my friends have a new southern art & style magazine, called Paprika Southern, which is based in Savannah, GA. I was so thrilled to find out that they were interested in collaborating on the shoot! These talented friends of mine, Siobhan and Bevin, both went to Savannah College of Art & Design with me and I can’t tell you how much fun we had working together.
That was a busy week for all of us, especially Bevin. We did the shoot on Wednesday and that Saturday was Bevin’s wedding day! We chose September Oaks as the location for both and it proved to be an excellent decision. We managed to have excellent weather throughout both days and we didn’t even get tired of being in the same place for two days. September Oaks is special in the way that it has so many spots that you can choose to host your ceremony or reception at. It’s a family-owned winery located in the historic Low Country of South Carolina, just outside of Savannah, Georgia. They just recently opened their doors to weddings and special events.
As a whole we were hoping to appeal to more of a bohemian rather than preppy bride. We chose a gorgeous Lena Medoyeff gown from a playful new bridal boutique in Savannah, called Ivory and Beau. The owners are young and excited about showing off their hand-selected gowns.
We pulled Candice Hilse and Grace Jennings of Yoj Events on for the styling. They came up with the jewel toned color scheme, which really catches the eye in the florals, linens, accessories, and dishware Grace chose.
Grace said “I tried to focus on rich jewel tones and dark fruits which both remind me of Autumn. I love all things vintage, especially juxtaposed with the golden flatware. The lace pattern in the bridal gown emulates leaves on a vine, and I wanted the groom to be rustic yet polished. The linens used on the exposed wood table with folded napkins were Aubergine, the full purple table with green bench was Plum, and the two-top Adirondack setup under the tree was Lime Green.”
