From the Bride… Tim and I were high school sweethearts, and remained friends throughout the years. One morning, after a late night of writing in graduate school, I felt compelled to email Tim and see how he was doing. I couldn’t explain why, but I just felt it was suddenly right to catch up with him. As it turns out, my instinct was spot on, and a few weeks later he visited me. The rest, as they say, is history.
We chose Chesterwood in Stockbridge, MA as the venue for our wedding because of its beautiful grounds and the fact that it was the home and studio of the American sculptor, Daniel Chester French. As an art historian, I was particularly attracted to Chesterwood’s history, and we both fell in love with the gardens when we visited. Our wedding was a small but elegant affair, the weather was divine, and the grounds gorgeous. A string duo provided a beautiful sonic backdrop of classical music during the ceremony, signature cocktail hour, and romantic al fresco dinner, held on the patio of the artist’s studio.
In planning our event, we kept things simple, favoring details and personal touches that spoke to us; privileging sincerity and elegance over prescription. As the day drew to an end, our guests delighted in a spectacular sunset overlooking the Berkshire mountains, and all the details were captured beautifully by our photographer, Julia Gargano (Julia Jane Studios)
