After saying their “I do’s,” this Bride and Groom took a walking tour of their own through this city they love, with Dave Robbins snapping up every picture perfect, postcard worthy moment, before they joined their guests at cocktail hour, surrounded by City Blossom’s beauties. There is no denying the Big Apple has a certain special flair about it and these pics are prime proof.

From the Bride… On November 11, 2011, at a small bar on the Upper East Side, Christopher and I met for the first time. Two years later Christopher proposed on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Whether dining out, enjoying Central Park or partaking in cultural activities, New York City has always been special to our relationship. From the day we became engaged we knew we wanted to celebrate our wedding with friends and family in the city where we fell in love.

Three things mattered to us when planning our wedding: sharing New York City with our guests, selecting a venue with incredible food, and finding a photographer with the vision to capture their day.

We selected a holiday weekend for our wedding because the majority of our guests were coming in from out of town. To begin the wedding weekend each guest received an I ♥ NY welcome gift bag with local amenities and a specially mapped walking tour of the our neighborhoods. To give our guests a true taste of New York, we spent months selecting the right neighborhoods and restaurants for the wedding, choosing TriBeCa Grill for the rehearsal dinner, The Smith in East Village for brunch, and Nolita and the Michelin Star ranked PUBLIC for our reception.

After interviewing eight photographers, we selected Dave Robbins to capture our special day. On our wedding day we woke up to rainy skies, but by the time the events began, the weather had improved. The bridesmaids joined me for breakfast and hair and make-up in midtown at The New York Palace Hotel. The groomsmen enjoyed straight razor shaves at New York Shaving Company before returning to Le Parker Meridien for burgers at Burger Joint. In the early afternoon, the groomsmen and groom strode down 5th Avenue to the Palace where we had our first look. It was then on to Grand Central Terminal for group portraits.

We were married surrounded by friends and family at All Souls Church, on the same block as their apartment in the Upper East Side. Our guests headed to PUBIC for cocktails and canapés including fried oysters, salmon ceviche and curried lentil spring rolls, while we enjoyed a few moments of serenity on the roofdeck of our apartment building. Before joining our guests at PUBLIC, we revisited the site of our engagement at the Met and even grabbed a quick hot dog on a stroll through Central Park.

In addition to vases of blush and white flowers matching the bridal bouquets, each of the receptions six tables were themed around a different city we had visited, which were important to our relationship. The groom found wire frame sculptures of famous monuments from each city to mark the tables, and I designed a seating chart and acrylic frames with table numbers that provided a description of the city’s significance. Wedding favors were desserts themed from each city – black and white cookies from NYC, lamingtons from Sydney, Georgetown cupcakes from Washington D.C., TCHO chocolates from San Francisco, and Tunnock’s Teacakes from London, all hand wrapped by us.

Following a dinner of venison, tilefish or pappardelle, guests enjoyed mini desserts, cake, and cocktails followed by dancing. To conclude the night, we surprised their friends and family with pizza delivered from Lombardi’s – NYC’s first pizzeria. A truly magical New York experience was had by all.
