Casual Santa Ynez Engagement
Joel Serrato has a serious way with the camera, and this simple yet wildly gorgeous engagement just might be some of his best work yet. Set in the open fields of Santa Ynez with loads of natural light just begging to be captured, it's everything a soon-to-be wed couple could ever want. Read their adorable story below!
From The Bride...Andrew and I first met while attending college together at USC, but it wasn’t until a few years later that we reconnected at a party in Manhattan Beach, CA and my best friend decided to play matchmaker. We went on our first date the following week, which began with a beautiful dinner and wine pairings, but was quickly followed by a few pints of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and some reality TV. It was over a shared love of our favorite indulgences that we realized we might be onto something. Four years later we were engaged, living together in Santa Monica, still watching bad television, and unbelievably excited to be starting the rest of our lives together!
Having worked as an event planner in Los Angeles for the past 8 years, and now being the co-owner of Park & Grove Event Studio, I have had the privilege of working with some truly incredible photographers in the industry. That said, when it was time to select someone to shoot our wedding (and our engagement photos), there was no one but Joel Serrato! Not only is Joel one of the kindest souls on earth, he is an insanely talented photographer and videographer, and the exact person you want to be around on what might otherwise be a completely nerve-racking day.
Andrew and I really wanted our engagement session to take place in an open, natural setting right at sunset, and Joel picked the perfect location for us up in Santa Ynez. We enjoyed every moment, laughed through the day as Andrew helped me trudge through fields wearing high heels, and ended up with the most beautiful photos! We couldn’t be happier! After our shoot, we drove straight to the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing and celebrating at our upcoming wedding venue. We can hardly wait for our big day over Memorial Day weekend!
