Charleston Antebellum Plantation Wedding
I've yet to make it to Charleston, but after perusing the gorgeous gallery a la Lauren Jonas, I'll be daydreaming about oak trees and Spanish moss for days. With a National Park setting the scenic surroundings, this perfect pair wed in true style perfectly planned by Yoj Events. And with every pastel bloom (I'm looking at you Wildflowers Inc.), I'll be sure to visit this gallery time and time again.
From the beautiful Bride... I grew up in Ohio, and when I first visited Charleston with my husband I fell in love. The city, the people and most of all the beautiful scenery surrounding us with the large oak trees and the Spanish moss. Our wedding was inspired by those very trees. We chose Legare Waring for its unforgettable ambiance. The national park provided us with the aisle of oaks for our ceremony, and a plethora of trees and foliage that produced a romantic sentiment. I wanted a lot of feminine touches, so I chose soft colors for the day which were blush, robin's egg blue and cream. A few rustic touches kept me close to home such as our mahogany farm tables and slatted wood chairs.
Our take home gifts were a pepper jelly, produced and bottled locally from Gatherings, in Ashtabula Ohio. I tied each one with raffia and the guest’s “nickname” to keep things lighthearted and less formal.
Every time Luke and I travel to Charleston we make our way to the open air market. During one of our vacations there we came across a local artist whom we purchased a beautiful painting of the Angel Oak from. That became our “guest book” for the special day. The most important aspect for the groom was the music. He came across the Louie D experience at a local bar in Charleston and fell in love with their blues quality and local feel. They quickly became our band, and we could not have been happier. Guests were shuttled to and from the Francis Marion by trolley to keep with the old southern charm.
CRU Catering provided a menu of down south cookin’, which included fried chicken, shrimp and grits and a mac and cheese bar.
What made the day unforgettable was not only the love we felt from our friends and family, but the care and attention we were given from all of our vendors. Katherine Miller at YOJ events handled all the decor/timelines, CRU Catering was delicious and accommodating with everything, Ash & Co. Makeup made me look and feel like a bride should on their special day, and most importantly our Photographer Lauren Jonas who captured the day. I look at these moments caught on film and I am instantly taken back, and I am so thankful for everyone that day.
