Multi-Cultural Holman Ranch Wedding

With bright blooms by Seascape Flowers and the rustic beauty of Holman Ranch, this summer wedding took my breath away. Combining both Catholic and Hindu traditions into one festive celebration, Susannah Gill-Photographic Storytelling captured every precious detail and these photos will be entertaining and inspiring me for the rest of today.

From the Bride… When we set out to plan our wedding, my then-fiance and I each closed our eyes for five minutes and imagined our perfect wedding, and then wrote down our thoughts. Then, we told each other what we wanted, and it turned out to be the exact same thing: a fusion wedding, under the sky. We wanted to throw the most memorable party ever, and Holman Ranch was the perfect place to do it. I’m Hindu, and my husband is Catholic, and we both wanted to have a fusion ceremony that incorporated the best traditions and ceremonies from our respective backgrounds. For the mandap, I wanted to have a modern and minimalist mandap that would showcase both the Hindu and Catholic portions of our ceremony and also not detract from the incredible views and surroundings of Holman Ranch. Darcy from Seascape Flowers worked some magic, and delivered the exact mandap that I had envisioned on top of doing an incredible job with all of our flowers.

From the Groom… From the moment we started planning our wedding, we decided on one thing: that making our wedding truly reflect us as individuals and as a couple would be what made the special day truly memorable. As we’re big on the outdoors, we lucked out on getting Holman Ranch, one of the most beautiful outdoor venues that could fit our “small” Indian wedding of 250 guests. Having a venue where we need to bring in all the vendors both gave us the freedom to choose anybody, but also the need for an expert in the Monterey/Carmel area. Coastside Couture expertly advised us through every step. Since we wanted our ceremony to reflect both our faiths and be a reasonable length, we delicately organized a fusion hour-long wedding that included both a Catholic priest & Hindu pandit while allowing time for intimate moments such as our personalized vows and my dad & brother singing.

The day flew by with lots of smiling, laughing and dancing, thus we’re so glad Susannah Gill and Anchor Cinema were there to capture the day. They struck the perfect balance between getting such amazing shots while expertly staying in the background all night. Meanwhile, Show of Life left us and our guests with perfect mementos from its photo booth. In the end, our wishes were granted: our guests truly seemed to enjoy most how each aspect of our wedding shared a different personal glimpse of our lives!
