Rustic Meets Elegant Boulder Wedding
It's probably pretty obvious by now that we love rustic with a little side of bling. And this sweet Boulder affair? Well, it's embracing the concept whole-heartedly. Think pretty pink + gold hues, fab florals from Cori Cook Floral Design and a stunning bride in a whole lot of gorgeousness from Little White Dress Bridal Shop. Say it with me, loves: awesome. See it all captured by Brinton Studios right here.
From Brinton Studios... Lauren and John are basically models. They might not make money doing it, but they seriously should. Lauren looked like a fashionista with her perfect bun and even better skin. When we talked about it, her comment was priceless: “Well, I needed something tall so that it didn’t look like he was kidnapping me." Hilarious!
It is safe to say that mixing these two cuties along with Boulder and its natural beauty was perfection. The Omni, Chautauqua Park, Sunrise Amphitheater, hidden trails along the foothills and near Flagstaff made for superb backdrops. And it's not everyday that a bride is willing to take a hike to the top of a mountain in the heat for a photo opportunity. The entire day and their Flagstaff House wedding was amazing and we were so fortunate to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone involved and to Cori Cook for adding the ultimate touch with the lovely flowers!
From the Bride... Jon and I met in college at CU-Boulder after he moved into a house with mutual friends. He was the tall, charming guy with dimples who was always making me laugh. Eight years later when we were in France for my best friend's wedding, he proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower, and so began one of the most exciting years of my life.
We wanted our wedding to be intimate and, most importantly, a true celebration, so we kept it small, inviting our closest family and friends. We chose to have both the ceremony and reception at the Flagstaff House Restaurant in Boulder; the venue sits nestled into a mountainside with the most breathtaking views and overlooks where Jon and I first met. We kept the style and color palette simple - soft florals in pale hues of blush, ivory and peach. We scattered small, low arrangements in gold mercury vases for a fun pop of metallic. Our seating chart was a vintage frame with ribbon and table cards strung in a window-pane fashion. The guests wrote us notes and wrapped them around chocolates that we would open up each night to read. I surprised Jon (who has a sweet tooth worse than a 5-year-old on Halloween!) with a candy bar and customized candy bags that read, "Thomson Candy Shoppe."
One of my favorite parts of the wedding was our guest book, which Jon made. He took a beautiful piece of wood from a local lumber yard and customized iron legs for it. Our guests used metallic sharpies to sign the table, and now it sits in our entryway.
Our wedding day was truly the happiest day of my life thus far, and as you can tell from the photos, Jon is still cracking me up every day.
