Elegant Outdoor Wedding

A chance meeting in Beijing followed by a trans-world romance... this, my friends, is the definition of a fairytale.  And how do you celebrate a love that was meant to be in the movies?  With a drop-dead gorgeous day crafted by the likes of A Savvy Event and Michael Daigian Design, of course. The talented Larissa Cleveland was on hand to capture every moment and you can see all of the pretty details right here, and in the sweet film from Sean Desmond below.

From The Bride... Out of all places in the world, Robert and I met in a classroom at Peking University in Beijing, China. Robert and I were both enrolled in a language program after college. Over our course we became close friends and explored new places in the city together.

Despite Robert’s convincing, I decided to return to San Francisco after the course ended to pursue my career while Robert stayed in Beijing to pursue his. Two years later, I was determined to visit Robert and some friends in Beijing. This time, the timing was right for both of us. After a year of numerous Skype calls, gmail chats, and a few trips to SF, Robert decided to move to San Francisco. We got engaged four years later in Venice, Italy.

Both Robert and I really didn’t look at our special day as a wedding but more of a party to celebrate with family and close friends. We really wanted our guests to be comfortable and have a great time with amazing food, wine, and music.

Walking down the aisle and seeing of all our friends and family that traveled far to be there that day was one of my favorite parts of my wedding. Also, seeing how all the decorations come together is pretty exciting since I could only envision bits and pieces but not the whole picture.

My dad used to always say when we were planning our wedding, “Don’t worry, everything will be all right and nothing will be ok.” I always laughed when I heard that because it really lightened the whole situation and put everything in perspective. There really is no reason to stress over wedding planning and you should really enjoy the whole process because you will never be able to do it again.

My advice to future brides?  Have fun with it, don’t take things too seriously, and in the end you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
