Equestrian Country Club Wedding in Atherton
For every little girl that wished for a pony, this equestrian-inspired wedding may just be your favorite! Having taken riding lessons as a child at the Menlo Circus Club, the Bride held her sun-lit ceremony in its polo fields. From the Bride... We initially met in a study group in college and quickly became good friends. The following summer, we started officially dating and spent the next few years living apart as I was in New York City and he was in Boston. A few years later we decided to move together to San Francisco. As for the proposal, it was a warm night (a rarity in San Francisco!), so Adam suggested we take a bottle of wine and head to Crissy Field, one of our favorite places right next to the Golden Gate Bridge. Next thing I know, we had barely crossed the parking lot and onto the grass, and he’s down on one knee. With an audience of bikers, runners, and surfers passing by, we were engaged!
The Menlo Circus Club has a special place in my heart because my grandparents had been going there since the 1960s. Growing up, I used to take riding lessons there and my grandfather would come to watch me. Afterward, we would meet for milk shakes in the “Side Show” or snack bar portion of the club. Having had so many wonderful memories at the Circus Club, when my mom suggested it as a possible venue I immediately knew this was it! Adam and I both loved the wide open space of the polo field for our ceremony and then bringing the guests inside the clubhouse for an elegant seated dinner and dancing all night. We chose green, pink, and gold shades to highlight the day; with our beautiful bridesmaids in Kelly green. Surrounded by our family and friends, this was the best day of our lives and we will cherish it always.
