From Love This Day Events... Kelly and Josh's fall Beaver Creek wedding was simply timeless. As the marketing director of the Little White Dress Shop in Denver, Colorado Kelly had the opportunity to hand pick her favorite Colorado (and Philadelphia) wedding vendors. Every detail was perfectly polished and thought out - this wedding was absolute perfection! And get ready to be so incredibly inspired by her TWO gorgeous dresses. Swoon.

From The Bride... Josh came home from work on a chilly late October Friday evening. Our apartment building has a roof deck with a gorgeous view of the city skyline, and when Josh came home he said I should grab my camera (I’m a photography hobbyist) and take some photos from the roof deck since the sunset that evening was particularly beautiful. Not suspecting a thing, I said, “No, that’s ok. It’s cold out.” He nudged a bit more, telling me how pretty the sunset was, but I stood firm and told him I didn’t want to go to the roof deck. So we stood in our kitchen going through mail and catching up a little after the day, as Josh was practically chugging a beer. I just thought he’d had a long day, and I still didn’t suspect anything. After finishing his liquid courage, Josh gave me a hug and kiss and told me how much he loved me, and got down on one knee right in our kitchen, with our cat Matilda looking on. To say I was shocked is a complete understatement. As soon as I remembered to say yes, he told me about his original plan to propose on the roof deck at sunset, and told me that he hadn’t come from work but had come straight from a local jeweler to pick up my ring, which Josh had been working with the jeweler to design for almost six months! I felt so bad about ruining his proposal plan that I insisted we immediately go up to the roof deck to take photos. Even though the proposal wasn’t quite his original plan, I love it even more since it’s so “us” to have it go wrong like that, and now every time I’m in our kitchen I have the memory of the day he proposed! We celebrated afterward with dinner at our favorite family-run Italian restaurant in our neighborhood.

My mom opened Little White Dress in 2008. She always had a passion for the wedding industry and after years of dreaming, she quit her corporate job to create her own bridal shop. I was so thrilled for her starting a new adventure and, as her daughter, was always a sort of informal adviser as she started the business and as the shop grew. I never imagined that I would be a part of the business as I worked in finance and international relations in New York, Switzerland, the Middle East, and North Africa for several years. After years of living away from Josh for my work, I decided to move to Philadelphia to be with him, and as I was between jobs I offered to help my mom with some of the marketing tasks for Little White Dress, which I could do without being in Denver and while I was looking for work in my field. Well, almost two years later now, I’m working full time for Little White Dress and absolutely love it. It’s amazing to contribute to my family’s business and it’s such a dynamic, challenging, fun industry to be in. I go to bridal market in New York twice a year, and went to London for bridal market this year, and I do social media for Little White Dress, as well as help out with our advertising, photo shoots, events, and everything else related to marketing the business and the brand. The business has grown so much and it’s really exciting to be a part of.

Years ago I used to try on a lot of the dresses at Little White Dress, but as I felt that Josh and I were getting closer to getting engaged, I didn’t try on any gowns (as much as I wanted to!) so I could keep it special for when I was actually engaged and choosing my gown. Still, I thought I had a pretty good idea about which styles and specific dresses I would like. I found out I was completely wrong when I actually started trying on dresses after I got engaged. After seeing what worked best on my figure, I wanted a drop-waist silhouette with a more dramatic skirt, which I never would have expected – I always thought I would want a subtler silhouette with sleeves. The Reem Acra Tiffany gown was in the shop for a trunk show, and it had that drop-waist silhouette, with such gorgeous beading, and I loved that it had the illusion neckline. I knew it was “the one” as soon as I put it on. It was so fun and special to choose my wedding dress in my mom’s own store. During a Rivini trunk show, I spotted a stunning fitted silk crepe gown with gold stitching and tried it on for fun. Everyone’s jaws were on the floor when I put it on, and I loved that it had a completely different vibe than the more princess-y Reem Acra. My friends’ and family’s expectations for my dress were pretty high since everyone knows my mom owns Little White Dress, so I decided to go for two dresses! Trust me, I know how lucky I am!

Advice for other brides is choose vendors that you feel like you could be friends with. Put your money and trust toward people and businesses that you respect and like. And once you’ve made a decision (on the dress, the photographer, the venue, etc.) move on and don’t look back!
