From The Bride... Our story is the age old tale of high school sweethearts. Sam and I met in a high school musical and he swept me off my feet with his jokes and laughter. Six years later we were engaged (all our friends saw it coming) and by the seventh it was wedding time. Growing up in the Adelaide Hills, naturally it was where we wanted to be married - close to home in a place that was important to us. Choosing a ceremony location was simple as the church we attend has a beautiful old traditional chapel, and it is attached to the primary school I went to! Our idea for the wedding was always traditional - but we didn't want it to feel too black & white. We went with a simple and classic style, with the addition of things like colorful flowers to contrast with the simplicity of the ivory dresses and I let the girls choose their own shoes. For the men, they wore handmade brown shoes from Ethiopia and self-tied bow ties. Although we had an idea of what we wanted it to look like, we were never fussy and just let things happen.

Because we were still students, we needed to be a little thrifty in some areas and we knew if we were going to pay money we wanted to let people we knew share their skills with us. We made sure to use resources like free printables from the internet (table numbers were easy this way) and Grandma who was willing to make some jam for the bonbonnieres. Our florist was my best friend who was learning floristry, and it was the perfect opportunity to show off her skills. We went to the flower market together to choose the flowers (so much fun!) and then she arranged all of the bouquets and buttonholes. Our cake was made by another friend's mum who has a high tea business. For the ceremony we had a string quartet that was organized by a friend of ours, and another school friend's husband played in the jazz band for the reception. We had a photo booth at the reception for guests to take picture in front of, and it was painted by two of my bridesmaids who are fantastic artists.
