Rustic Winter Engagement Session

In honor of National Proposal Day, we're looking at some amazing asks and this one here racked up the miles along the way, from college dorms to Dublin, to the beaches of Bermuda, where this Groom-to-be surprised his love with some sparkle. But for their engagement shoot, they settled a bit closer to home, in the woods around Batsto Village, where Judith Rae snapped away, creating this gallery of goodies here.

From the Bride-to-be... Sam and I met the very first weekend of college. We had an instant bond and spent the first year building a friendship that neither of us had ever experienced. Through that friendship, we began to fall in love and started dating the following summer. I had always dreamed of studying abroad, and we decided that it was an experience we had to share. So in our junior year of college we went to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland and have loved traveling together ever since! After three years of dating and graduating college we decided I would move to Baltimore in the fall of 2013 so we could start our next chapter. Then the day after Christmas 2013 Sam called and said he booked a "just because" trip to Bermuda in May.

We were so excited to begin our adventure in Bermuda! We took a cab to Horseshoe Bay Beach, getting to know the island from the point of view of a local, one of our favorite things to do while traveling. Once we arrived at the beach, we were taken aback by the beauty of our surroundings, and Sam suggested that we take a walk to explore. We were amazed by the beauty of the island and how blessed we were to be experiencing it together. We finally arrived at a cove where we were completely alone. It felt like we were the only people in the entire world. After some swimming and relaxing, Sam said he spotted dolphins in the distance. He handed me the camera and asked that I take photos of them. I kept snapping pictures, even though I couldn't see any dolphins! He tapped me on the hip and as I turned around, he was down on one knee, and uttered the most amazing words, "Kelsey, will you marry me?" I enthusiastically exclaimed "Yes!" We stayed in our cozy cove for a little while longer enjoying the beautiful beginning of the rest of our lives.
