New England Meets Southern Charm Wedding Inspiration

With summer memories of Maine and a steady crush on the South, we’re looking at two of my all-time favorite places, here together in one place. Combine these two beauties and we have one lovely union that I can’t help but gush over. Daisies & Pearls did the magical mixing and Hailey Tash captured every bourbon bottle detail. See this North-meets-South shoot in all its glory right here.

From Hailey Tash PhotographyAfter escaping the cold Maine winter last March for a week in warm and sunny Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina, I came home so inspired by the beauty and romance of the South. The whole way home I thought about how much I’d love to shoot a Southern wedding. Then, I thought, why not bring a bit of the south to the north!? So, I contacted Sarah Goodwin of Daisies & Pearls, who was immediately on board. She had just traveled to Georgia as well and was feeling the same desire to create that I was.

From Daisies & Pearls… When flipping through pages or scrolling through blogs, a Southern wedding is immediately recognizable. Whether it is florals, fashion or food, Southern presence is distinct. Inspired by the deep rooted traditions and culture of the South this styled shoot proves a Southern wedding can certainly happen North of the Mason-Dixon line.

A New England farmhouse once known for its prize winning Thoroughbreds is the backdrop for this Southern infused wedding shoot. The color palette of sage and lavender with pops of peach carries throughout the design elements. The floral stationery features delicate blooms in shades of purple, while the invitation suite sets the tone for the wedding.

The Bride wears a timeless lavender gown and her Groom sports a sage seersucker bow tie with coordinating pocket square. She carries a bouquet of purple and peach blooms. The couple strolls the property as a wide brimmed hat shields the Bride’s face from the hot summer sun. With no rain clouds in sight, it is evident the buried bottle of bourbon performed its job successfully.

A beverage cart welcomes guests with Southern libations and an invitation to wear a flower in celebration of the occasion. Escort cards, displayed on green shutters, encourage guests to find their seats in the formal dining room. The tablescape consists of purple, peach and gold elements. Guests find dance cards at their place setting to be filled in as they dine on Southern favorites.

The traditional wedding cake is adorned with a sugar magnolia and the Groom’s cake draws from more Southern influence in the form of a bourbon barrel.
