French Inspired Engagement Session
Crafted by an adorable bride as a sweet ode to her French (+ oh-so-dapper) fiancé, this engagement session is nothing short of gorgeous. Think meticulously planned details (croquet, macaroons and French rosé) meets a gorgeous backyard setting meets two cuties seriously excited for their big day. From the Bride to Be... My inspiration for the engagement shoot started with my fiancé, who is French! Plus, I have always had a keen eye for anything French, especially when it comes to decor. So, as I started to conceptualize our wedding, I wanted to incorporate French details wherever possible. I was particularly excited to style the engagement shoot because it gave me the opportunity to take advantage of my creative side. Having the session in my parents' backyard served as a great backdrop with all their beautiful greenery and flowers. It was also a huge advantage, because I was able to not only use props I collected over the months prior, but also searched my parents' house for items that would complete the look and feel of our shoot. For example, the yellow bistro set in the photos was something my parents had for years and my dad wanted to get rid of it because it was so old. However, my mom, who knew my style, convinced my dad to keep it, because she thought it would be a perfect prop for us... and she was right! Victor had introduced me to the Paris versus New York book which we keep on display in our NYC apartment. It is a cute coffee table picture book that parodies the cultural difference between these two major cities. I also searched around for vintage English-French dictionaries that we ended up using for our Save-the-Date concept. Other props included a tiered macaroon tray, French inspired florals, an Eiffel Tower ring holder, croquet set and some French rose wine, of course! We each had two outfits for the shoot that I searched around for. The first was classically French - I wore a French striped blue and white tee with a red skirt, while Victor wore navy pants a white shirt and suspenders. Our second outfit change included a polka dot jumper and red pumps for me and for Victor, red pants, a chambray shirt and a red white and blue bow tie! Overall, Victor and I had a great engagement session and Paul did an amazing job capturing this for us - we are so excited for our June wedding!
