Romantic Hilltop Wine Country Wedding at Kunde Family Estate
As an event planner herself, this beautiful Bride knew the pressure would be on when it came to her wedding, but let me just say, she hit the ball out of the park with her big day. With the help of Orchard Avenue Events and Vanda Floral Design, she whipped up a day that is packed with personality and lots of pretty, leaving us with a stunning gallery from Jen Philips too lovely to miss.
From the Bride...Being an event planner in Sonoma Valley, I knew I wanted to stay local for our wedding. Although I work in Sonoma, I hadn’t gotten the chance to visit many other venues. I had the help of the best planner I know throughout the entire process, Brooke Altman from Orchard Avenue Events, who also set up all the venue tours so we could see all the options. We had to have toured at least fifteen different venues before we arrived at Kunde. I remember being blown away at its vast natural beauty right away, and that was just the view from the tasting room. When we arrived at the top of Boot Hill, I instantly knew I had found the venue of my dreams.
When we started the planning, all of my family and friends were so excited so see what I came up with because I’m in the industry, so the pressure was definitely on! However, Brooke was always there to bounce ideas off of and together we produced exactly what my husband and I were hoping for.
Our ceremony took place in-between boot hill’s famous oak trees, overlooking miles of vineyards which created the perfect backdrop for our “I do’s.” We had the talented Mori Achen from Wine Country Entertainment play guitar for our ceremony as well as our cocktail hour, which set the tone for the beautiful reception to follow.
I wanted the design to be relaxed, with small touches of glam. We ended up mixing dark rustic farm tables, with wrought iron cafe chairs to create almost a garden party feel. I knew instantly that I wanted a lace wedding gown, so I decided to incorporate lace runners on tables to continue the theme. We mixed silver and gold mercury glass candles, with bold gold table numbers to add sparkle to the table. We wanted all the colors to be very natural. Bryce from Vanda did an amazing job at designing beautiful soft centerpieces which were scattered along the center of the table. He added a pop of chamomile to continue the outside garden feel. Last but not least, we had a beautiful dark wood dance floor with an oversized chandelier in the center to provide perfect ambiance for the evening.
As much fun as it was for me to design my dream wedding, I knew that for our families the most important elements to a good party is always: the food, the music, and the drinks! Sage Catering delivered the most delicious meal that our guests are still raving about, accompanied by Kunde’s amazing wines. Dennis from Anderson Entertainment literally had our guests running to the dance floor where they stayed the remainder of the evening, with the exception of eating pie and ice cream from Petaluma Pie Company, which is the best local bakery we visited during the tasting process! The few guests that were not dancing enjoyed playing corn hole and bocce ball on the lawn or lounged by huge built-in fire pit.
At the end of the wedding, our guests grabbed their homemade favor, which was a bag of fresh local cherries which everyone enjoyed on the shuttle back to the hotels.
We worked with the best professionals in the business which made me feel entirely at ease on our wedding day because I knew everything would be seamless. It will always be one of the best days of our lives, and feel so grateful that we are able to look back at the perfectly captured moments by Jen Philips to relive it often.
