DIY Engagement Photo Envelope Liners

I adore my engagement photos captured by our photographer, Rebecca Yale and I’m constantly racking my brain on what to do with them. Sure, you can frame them or tuck them away in a pretty album, but I’m loving our resident DIY expert Jess‘ fresh new idea for these DIY engagement envelope liners. You know grandma will love seeing your pretty faces peek at her when she opens your save the date!

Create a template for your envelope. If you are using Paper Source envelopes, they have a template kit you can purchase. Or you can easily make a template by following these instructions.

Use a high-quality, large size photo that you can print out larger than your envelope size. For a 5”x7” envelope, we needed an 8”x10” print and for a 4”x6” envelope, we needed a 5”x7” print. Choose a photo where the two of you can both fit in the triangle shape of the envelope flap, and you won’t be too large or too small once the photo is cropped- you may need to print out a few choices on copy paper to see what works.

Print out the photo on the fine quality paper. Place it over the template, then hold both sheets up to a window, so you can see the outline of the template on the photo. Position the template so that the photo will cover all the template area, and that the two of you are nicely in the center of the template.

Carefully take the photo & template away from the window and flip facedown on a table. Trace the template on the back of the photo, then cut out the photo with scissors.

Tuck the photo liner into the envelope and lightly glue in place on the flap (the bottom can hang loose, it will lay flat inside the envelope). Use the bone folder to press a crease in the liner along the crease of the envelope flap.

Print out photos for the remaining envelopes and trace the template on the backside of each. Cut out each liner, glue into envelopes, and crease. Your envelopes are ready for invitations!
