Romantic Ontario Engagement Session
I'll be honest, this bride-to-be's fabulous top is what first caught my eye, but then I fell into a spell soaking up every inch of this whole engagement shoot. It is the epitome of casual elegance, with some of the prettiest natural light I've seen in awhile, leaving me dreaming of summer days. Brumley & Wells was lucky enough to be in the same place as this beautiful couple, resulting in one stunning shoot.
From the Bride-to-be... It was a cold wintery day in March, we were snowshoeing in the woods, and it began to snow. There he was down on one knee on his family’s property called “The Hill." A truly Canadian engagement.
That was how this journey began, and from the moment I started emailing Jacob and Annie, I had a good inclination that this would be it. They would be our photographers. They were patient and kind and very real. When you see people with true passion, you know, you feel and you trust that these lovely people are meant to do what they do best. Portraits can be so personal, intimate and sometimes invading. Not for a moment did I feel uncomfortable or awkward (as I was standing in my 4” heels in the middle of a National Park!).
The coincidence, was that they were in London, Ontario for a wedding, and they are from Colorado. Summer was the perfect timing for our engagement shoot. I assured the fiancé that I could definitely not find anyone else (that I wanted) closer to home to shoot us, and we made the two hour drive on a hot June day. After the biggest downpour of rain prefaced by the thundering charcoal coloured clouds, it turned into a magical setting. Dreamy, glistening and very ethereal - just the way I envisioned it.
Nick, my fiancé, can be hard to convince of anything really. But once we were done with our shoot, he actually said it the car ride home, how much fun he had. He mentioned their professionalism, what a great team they were and how relaxed he felt (taking pictures on a blanket in the woods…probably not a guys favourite idea of a Sunday evening). But it was just the two of us, and some friends shooting.
It started in nature, I dreamed about our shoot in nature, and our wedding will be in June 2016, in Niagara-on-the-Lake on a fruit orchard. I cannot wait till we share our day, as everything seems to be unfolding in such a serendipitous way!
