Fair warning, Zoe the ‘flower dog’ might just kill you with her cuteness. She’s just one of the many sweet details that are tucked into this Southern soiree from Feather & Twine Photography. Boutonnieres and centerpieces made with cotton from the Bride’s grandparent’s farm, fireplace logs gathered from a sentimental family vacation spot and so much more. See it all here!

From the beautiful Bride…Jake and I met our freshman year in college. My roommate informed me she invited a guy from her English class to hang out with us one night. When that night came we piled into his truck and went hunting for rabbits. Needless to say after that first night I was immediately attracted to his southern charm and relaxed nature, we were inseparable ever since.
When it came time to pick our venue, we had a hard time figuring out where to tie the knot. With me being from Midland, Texas and Jake being from Sugar Land, Texas we decided to have it right in the middle in Mansfield, Texas. As soon as I saw Classic Oaks Ranch, I knew it was the perfect place for us to get married. It encompassed everything I wanted in a southern wedding from the beautiful reception barn, to the chickens running around in the open fields.
When planning the wedding I wanted to make sure that it captured Jake and I’s styles and personalities. We wanted it to be very personal and not just a cookie-cutter wedding. For example the cotton we used in the flower arrangements and for the guy’s boutonnieres were from my grandparent’s cotton farm, which was something so special to my family. We also used wood logs for the fireplace from Creede, CO where Jake’s family travels to many time a year growing up. But one of the details Jake and I were so excited about was having Jake’s dog, Zoe, as the flower dog. We tried to incorporate as much of “us” as we could in our wedding day. It was such relaxed day with so much joy and celebration. Our guests had no problem cutting it up on the dance floor and singing along with the band. Everyone that was at our wedding made it that much more special, we are so blessed by our friends and family.
A piece of advice I would give to future brides would be, don’t be afraid to slow down and breathe in the moment. It really does go by quickly, so whatever doesn’t go the way you planned it would, which it will, just roll with it. This is such a special time, remember to enjoy it!
