From Koman Photography….We are very excited to submit this beautiful Winter Wedding and Engagement Inspiration Shoot today! John and I were apart of an amazing team of extremely talented artists who planned, designed, and created a magical setting at the Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah.
From Shirley Han of Everly Events …Here in Southern California, while we have abundant amounts of sunshine, snow is one thing we rarely ever get to see! Our winter’s here feel a lot like summer, so for this shoot, I dreamed of going somewhere cold, beautiful, and covered in snow, so that I could get the winter I have always dreamed of. Travelling is also a huge passion of mine, so I knew this was the perfect opportunity to venture out into a new and undiscovered place, which is why we thought Park City in Utah was the perfect location and backdrop for our winter wonderland. This was also an amazing opportunity and fun challenge for me to reach out to vendors who were all based out in Utah – it was a great chance to expand my network and meet some amazing people out there!
I was very fortunate to be able to work with the amazing photographers Marlene and John of Koman Photography, who love travelling and adventure just as much as I do, and they happened to be in Utah already on a snowboarding trip, so as my eyes and ears out there, they were able to find this amazing location tucked away behind the Canyons Resort in Park City. It was a long, arduous drive from Orange County to Park City (11 hours to be exact!) but it was so worth it for the scenery, snow, mountains, and the beautiful wildlife that surrounded us. The adorable yaks, majestic horse, and peacocks that were walking around the venue while we were shooting had to have been one of my favorite highlights from the day!
This inspiration shoot was a personal one, I was so fortunate that my dear friends James and Ellis (who also happened to recently get engaged in real life) were able to join me on this road trip to Utah and agreed to be my models for this shoot. There is something I love so much about working with real couples – not only for their natural love for one another, but also because I am able to tell their real story throughout the photo shoot as well.
When putting together design for this shoot, I envisioned lots of soft flowing lines and textures, so I selected a dress for our bride that was lush and simple, that would just blend right in with the snow. Paired with a lush and soft fur stole and hand knit mittens, Ellis kept warm and beautiful out in the chilly snow. The florals for the shoot were designed to be organic, natural and free-flowing to complement the outdoors that we were immersed in. The bride’s bouquet was loosely hand-tied with beautiful garden roses and wild vines to give it that natural feel. The flowers were the perfect color to pop against the white snow and give a hint that spring time is just right around the corner. We included beautiful props from Refined Vintage Rentals such as the old-fashioned telephone, dresser, and love letters from James that he wrote to Ellis during their early dating years. And lastly, no photo shoot is complete without an adorable teepee pitched in the snow for our lovely couple to sit in surrounded by lots of throws and pillows!
A big thank you to our contributors: To Marlene and John of Koman Photography for always shooting the most beautiful and romantic images. To Heidi Min for coming with me on this trip and being my right hand woman in the design and set-up of this day. To Natalie and Alex of The Petal Coop for their beautiful floral designs. To Lynette of Refined Vintage Events for her amazing vintage rentals, which looked so beautiful in the snow! To Katherine Ross of Script Merchant Calligraphy for designing and writing up one of my favorite lyrics from The Beatles, a perfect complement to this love story. To Cassidy Budge from Flour & Flourish for the gorgeous cake, dessert, and sugar flowers that were all handmade by her (so amazing!). To Chloe of Bella Wedding Bridal for the beautiful wedding dress and hair accessories. To Katie Livingston for her beautiful hair and make-up designs that made our beautiful Ellis even more beautiful. And to Friar Tux for the beautiful grey suit that made James look so handsome and picture perfect. This day could not have been made possible without each and every one of you!
