Intimate and easy-going, this duo wanted their day to feel like a special family gathering. Their grand vision? A day filled with long Petals & Pop garlands, personalized calligraphy a la the Bride herself, and homemade jam favors. Every detail was seamlessly snapped up by onelove photography, and it’s all waiting right here!
From The Bride… We are both very private and quite shy at times. We wanted our wedding to feel intimate and easy-going to minimize our stress and to make our special day feel like a special family gathering. What was most important to us was sharing that time with the people we cared about, eating good food, and dancing the night away.
We were so excited about the long garlands that Petals & Pop designed for the event — they kept our tables simple and beautiful. I also took a calligraphy class with Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls at Poketo and practiced on our invites during the months leading up. I could still use much more practice, but I felt very proud of the name cards and that personal touch.
It is easy to become a perfectionist as you are planning a wedding. We were very specific (a.k.a. picky) about many of the details we wanted, down to the way we covered our homemade jam favors. Many of the things we had planned did not come together the way we expected that day, but it did not matter. Come up with a grand vision, but don’t spend too much time sweating the details!
Sarah’s favorite memory: I have two. One was dancing with Adam right before the music turned off for the night. During the months leading up to the wedding, we played the Beach House song “I’ll Take Care Of You” over and over again in anticipation of it. It was so exciting when we finally got to dance to it as husband and wife. And of course, the flash mob dance we planned with our friends to “Take On Me” — I never thought we could actually do it!
Adam’s favorite memory: The whole ceremony. We kept it short, but sweet. We had been nervous about having to deliver our vows in front of everyone (neither of us being natural public speakers), but once we were up there it came so easily and both of us avoided bawling our eyes out. Seeing Sarah come down the aisle was a dream come true and the feeling immediately after the recessional was so exciting (mixed with a sense of relief that it had actually come together after all the planning).
